They've had the problem on the 120,200 and 70 series too.
Apparently the fix is to install a new drive shaft with a "diamond plated spline" ...bigger lol. It's just a clunk when you come to a stop, Toyota original fix was to pack it with grease but now theyve come up with this.
I haven't actually noticed it so much lately, maybe I've just got used to it.2011 150series GXL

My dealer adjusts the hand brake at each service. I have found on my last few cars that they need adjusting regularly. They get a bit slack (need to pull it higher to engage strongly) over time. Each time its serviced, the handbrake is much tighter. Never asked, they've just done it.
They also rotate the wheels, fix any rattles, and replace anything that's not perfect under warranty. Never paid more than the $210 fixed price.
I would have thought that if the air filter needs changing as part of one of the logbook services up to 60,000km then it should be included in the $210.
From the Toyota website:
Toyota Service Advantage includes:
Full logboook services including labour, fluids, and Toyota Genuine Parts with a 12 month warranty^
Only expert Toyota trained Technicians work on your car
Specialist Toyota diagnostic equipment to keep your vehicle performing at its best
My Pajero used to cost between $400 and $700 each service. I know the Toyota servicing discount is probably built into the purchase price but it sure feels good to only hand over $210 for a 4wd service!

It hurts to hand over the cash up front, but then that feeling is subdued by the fact you're getting a new car! OTOH, it doesn't feel good when the service costs vary so much and all you get back is the same car you dropped off. Toyota is playing mind tricks; very clever really.

Dont feel alone Kakadaz. I have a Ford Territory as a company car. $85.00 for a handbrake adjustment and usually a call from someone in the service department with a list of things that need doing such as changing the fluid in the wiper bottle, rotating the air in the tyres etc.
The service cost varies between $400.00 to $ 800.00
They must teach the same things at service department school.Rob

But seriously isn't the handbrake deemed a safety device? surely its Toyota's obligation to ensure its working 100% ?2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... Build up thread below

There's a major dealership in Carseldine in Brisbane (non-Toyota) that serviced all the Commodore & Falcon company vehicles for the company I worked for 10-12 years ago and they were charging $300 for oil changes then. Seemed an extra $100 was added to the bills straight up because they were fleet vehicles. Makes you sick with what some of them get away with.... Or try to. When I first bought my Prado 5 years ago I had it serviced by Ultra Tune. What was a simple oil change, oil filter and air filter they charged $340. I questioned the bill when picking up the car. The air filter was $90 alone. $60 part retail and $30 labour to fit it in the 1 minute that it takes. Last bloody time I paid someone to do that for me.2005 120 series V6 Grande, 2 inch susp lift (King/EFS combo), 32 inch MT’s, Safari Snorkel, rear diff lock, breathers, Light Force spotlights, UHF, dual batteries.

I dont mean to steal someones post, but is $830 for a 150,000km service a bit steep? They said that was for the basic filters and oil changes and the timing belt, (which I know gets done at 150000km). But I then told them my drive belt needed replacing, my car wont start first time everytime, my engine coolant is low and my CV rubbers are split. They then said that they cant give me a final price on those problems, which I understand as they dont know the extent of the damage/problems...
This is the first time I have dealt with this toyota dealer as I bought my Prado elswhere.
What should I do?
Demand a cheaper service price?
Deal with it and let them do it?
Any help would be good...
