Nothing strange about that since the contract then also did indeed had the clause relating to final price variation/confirmation. This has now been waived making it a fixed price contract. I'm surprised to hear about "most dealers" being unaware of the upcoming Altitude. Attached to my 17 September contract I have a "Toyota Regional Planning Specification summary" for the Altitude.

    • Dealers are happy to have you sign a contract without knowing a price. This way they know you won't continue shopping around at other dealers. Then they sort out the final pricing when it's due for delivery.
It doesn't bother them if your not happy with the final price, they will just rip up the contract and sell the car to someone else.
The same thing happened to me with the new pricing for the 2012 VX.

Just Call Mark Pagett the GM of Ken Mills Toyota Nambour QLD . His direct number is 07/5430 8606 and ask for the same deal as Patrick H. He is a great guy and I would be surprised if he does not extend the same deal.

Do you mind letting us know what you paid for it? And can you confirm it is an altitude.

I reckon sub 70 otherwise you would be buying a VX.

                    • I wont tell you exact amount as don't like to kiss & tell.
I should correct delivery to Mid to late March 2012 not March 12.
A little over mid sixties for Td Auto no accessories on road in Victoria
They would not even come at mats.

This amount was about my limit or it was a GXL

One other dealer lured me into the dealership with a discussion of $67K & when I got there it turned into $70K with mats & weathershields.

Found out today that ARB towbar is almost half price of Toyota towbar and sits higher on car, both have same capacity.

                      • Anything under $70K driveaway in VIC is under cost. The dealers selling under $70K must be needing volume to get their rebates and selling at a small loss.

                            • Well we have been waiting on our dealer in vic to tell us a price on the altitude, today he rang and told us for turbo diesel auto $11000 more then the price we have been given for the standard gxl which our price for it was $60000 drive away if we were to pay $71000 for the TD AUTO Altitude i think we would be better off getting the vx, See what price they give us today when we go there and do some haggling and keep you posted, in the mean time anyone that's been given a better price for TD AUTO ALTITUDE please let me know...

                                The New Car Factory

I highly recommend that you give him a call and say I have referred you to him.

Dont ask what price I have been given as Owen has asked that I dont put it on a public forum, please give him a call and Im sure he wll try and look after you, not only did he help me by advising against big ticket items eg a bullbar / towbar etc to save on LCT (luxury car tax) so now I have the ok from the minister of finance , my wife. To get a few goodies to add on after I pick it up....he did warn me about going into a place like ARB, "you'll be like a big kid in a toyshop"

Now cant wait to join the soccer parents club (lmao) and test out my low range by driving the truck up onto the front lawn to wash it
