  • Hello all, first time poster, but have read this thread with interest over the last few months.
Thank you to all the members who posted as it made my mind up to upgrade to a new Prado Altitude which I took delivery of today. They are certainly a nice bit of gear and a lot more refined than my old 90 series.

I went with the V6 after taking both versions for a drive back to back. The petrol is just that little bit quieter and smoother at idle but the D4D seems to be a great engine and I can see why they are popular.

Another thread that saved me time was concerning Perth Toyota dealers and I took one of the members advice and went to City Toyota in Perth. Got a good deal on the car from Nathan and a good deal on finance from Craig.

Prado point has a wealth of information for those in the Prado community and I thank all those who contribute.

Now......off to play with the new toy

    Cheers Johno

    • Picked up my Altitude today.
      Black D4D Auto.
      OME 50mm lift kit.
      Safari Snorkel
      265 x 70 x 17 MT ATZ 4 rib.

ARB Sahara Bar & winch is 3 weeks away.

I can confirm the tyres fit in the spare wheel cover.

I am very impressed with the car.
The OME lift is a big 50mm although the springs are for the bar & winch which is not yet fitted.
The suspension lift has eliminated pitching under brakes & body roll is all very much reduced - very impressed.

The sat nav is great particularly the phone function - loaded all my contacts without even looking at the instructions!

Will post up pictures this weekend.
      Cheers

I'm sure you'll be pleased, that is essentially the same setup I have and we've had ours just over two years now (isn't it amazing that the 150 has been around that long now) and we still feel like its a new car.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

Here is our new Altitude that we picked up yesterday. Couldn't be happier. The 120 series in the photo was picked up last night by the new owner. I will miss it as it was one of the best 4WD's that I have ever owned, and I have owned many. For a very short period of time we owned two Prados lol. The Altitude is awesome and is very refined. As per another forum subject I did not recieve a user guide for the Sat Nav which is a little dissapointing. The dealer is looking to source one for me.

I got a package deal off a tyre supplier that my BIL uses to supply tyres for his very busy panel repair business.
Consequently I got very well looked after - $800.00 changeover with the original tyres which had less than 50km on them.
The tyre supplier supplies a large Melbourne Toyota dealer so consequently he has a market for the Grandtreks.

If had paid the going rate I think it was $390 a tyre - RRP is $510.

The tyres actually improve the ride & handling over the Grandtreks.
                  Cheers

                  • Anyone getting a strong vibration when you come to a stop, with air con on. And the compressor kicks in? We had a very noticable vibration that comes and goes with the air con cycling on and off......

                    • Well took The Altitude out today & must say I am very impressed.

We did some medium to hard tracks up around Mt Disapointment.

Went in at Wandong and came out at Clonbinane.

For those interested Andersons Gardens (a nice picnic & camping area) is now open after 3 years since the fires.

No photos of the Prado as I was the lead vehicle.

I was very impressed with the 4 x 4 capability, the MT ATZ's were superb both on & off road.

Having come from a D3 I was nervous however now I am glad I made the choice to buy a Prado.

The D4 is slightly better on road however this is offset by the goodies in the Altitude which were out of my budget in a D4.

Still waiting on bar, winch, compressor, winch & radio.

The car is filthy & incurred some free pinstripes however this will polish out - Black polish is brilliant!!!
                      Cheers

                      • Hi all,
i've just order my new Altitude today which hopefully will be delivered within the month, can't wait and very excited. I read earlier in this thread about people having issue's gaining insurance for their vehicles. I'm having a similar problem, with very few insurance companies that have updated their spec list for the Altitude? Can anyone out there provide me a couple of options? So far it looks like Toyota insurance is the best bet??

                        cheers

                        • We just went with Toyota finance and insurance, with the insurance they initially said won't insure the lift but after a quick phone call all good, apparently they just don't advertise the fact.
