    Its odd really - a 'fashion' thing. No more flares no more door guard strips on most manufacturers models it appears. I didn't like the look of the 150 when it first came out - I was missing my flares.

    But I grew to love it after seeing it in the flesh many times when we visited South Africa. So I came back home to the UK and chopped in my 2003 120 for a late 2009 ex Toyota owned 150 with 10,000 miles on the clock .... and love it ...... mostly.... :-}

      Yes it's a question of personal taste and each to his own, but one thing about the 120 is it's a very distinctive look, a more rugged look. You can spot it a mile away and not mistake it for anything else. The 150, 200, the Kluger and a few other non Toyos have that same general appearance about them, only a keen eye would instantly tell them apart. Not saying they're not tough, just that sameness. But that's only my opinion.

        I agree ozpat, a " rugged look". That pretty much sums it up. I would take the look of the 120 over the 150 anyday!!

              Ok, who's organizing the group discount? Hate to think what the conversion would cost though, or how much the insurance would avoid you, I guess it could be done as an individually constructed vehicle.

                Back to the issue of flares, the 150 gets dirty panels quicker than the 120. Quickly obvious in convoy heading for the bush on a damp track. The 120 is a very good vehicle and the change to a new model was always going to leave some customers behind. Given how dated the 90 series looks now, what will we think of the looks of the 120 after the next generational change?

                  Funny you say that barajak, while I still think the 90 is a great car my wife was just saying to day how they are starting to look dated compared to the 120 but then I said the same thing as you to her. I said so does that mean its time to upgrade to a 150 now before the 120 looks dated ?? she said no chance buddy lol, but did agree we could buy my mates 2009 clubby with 75k on it at the end of the year when the lease is up on it. Told her if I cant have a 150 then shes not updating to the clubby, didnt go down to well lol....Cheers Steve

                    I have only every owned and driven Toyota, never even considered another brand, also have only ever brought a new car like someone said here "you just don't know the history", just something no amount of detailing will remove

                    As for the Prado, we drove the LC200 and then found out that they was building a GX so we waited for 6 months till the 2012 GX come out, the idea of barn doors, vinyl floors and the big V8 was appealing. then curiosity we decided on the taking a Prado for a drive, the altitude and finalized on the VX due entirely on KDSS.. but over a LC200 GX Vs 150 VX for the same price there is no comparison for comfort.

                    Anyway to talk about the OP, I wouldn't mind flare guards but whats the point if you cant have wide / tall tyres. I couldn't even put 265/70/r16s on without breaking the law.

                    the Arctic Truck AT35 looks awesome.

                      Despite having a 120 I still think the 80 and 90 series are the best looking 4wds. The 120 and 150 look effete by comparison.

                          And that is why we fit front and rear bars, larger A/T tyres, snorkels etc. to help save the planet!

                            There was a company a while ago on ebay doing flares for a 150 and they looked quite good. I like the clean look of the 150 the 120 was a bit like the pajero's with too much plastic stuck on the side of it. Saying that I would rather replace or repaint a flare than a guard.

                                I pick up a new prado in mid Dec and im looking for flares , ive seen a 150 that has been fitted with flares , and they were nt the universal type . Ive noticed that the 150 s when driven on the dirt and mud , that they get a nice spray up their ribs . so being out in the country wear i live , flares are a must . ive contacted ARB , TJM , FRP an a few others to no avail , so if anyone out there knows who sells flares could you let me know .
                                Cheers .
