does or has anyone else noticed a grinding noise when engaging and dis engaging low range

Are you trying to engage whilst still moving, the gears are cross cut and do not have synchros like a normal gearbox so will grind when trying to mesh.
Best to be not moving when engaging although can disengage quite easily (even in an auto) whilst still movingKev,

I have accidently made mine grind once selected drive before the dash light had stopped blinking. ( L4 to H4 ).
Makes the type of noise that reminds you not to be impatient next time.Comment

You can get into L4 on the move. As you're rolling (slowly) put it into neutral and flick the switch. It'll click over when it's ready.Originally posted by stumped View Post
