    Hello Prodo Point Forum

So i have done a search on the forum and web and can't find what I am looking for

I am wanting to place a DVD screen in the back of my prado original 150 headrests and have them play from a player

I have found lots of aftermarket ones that are made into the headrest already however are a different shape and material

If you have done this to your prado can you let me know who did it for you, what is the best way to do it, roughly how much and what screens and player you used

Also if you have some pictures can you show

    Thank you for your help

    Cheers

    Brent

I put Aftermarket DVD head rests in 12 months ago and they are now redundant after we got a couple of I pads, the kids don't use them. We recently completed a 4 week 8800km trip and they weren't used . I would recommend you put the money towards I Pads or similar.
    Regard s

got our cheapy ones for $180 for both. Plugs into the china made head unit and works a treat. Kids love them to watch the movies and when they stop working or kids get older and don't use them I'll rip them out and just slide the originals back on.

Another for the iPad option, we bought a bracket off eBay that mounts to your headrest and holds it so it's like a headrest mounted DVD player. $9 delivered... As hutch said then you can take it with you when you get to your destination.

Sixth the iPad's. You don't want kids watching headrest when you are going down the shops. With iPads they only watch them when you put them there and also can have games and can be used wherever you go.

We had the HD TwinView ones installed in our Prado from new. We had to replace the headrests as they came in their own. As the stock ones are fairly thin I would think that they would be unsuitable to install DVD players into.

We have had them for only 18months and they are painful. As our kids are young still (3.5 and 2yo twins) they enjoy pushing buttons and leave the screens covered with fingerprints. Next car I will either go without or get a roof mounted one. The headrest ones are also painful for wifey to change discs on the road.

For what it's worth I think they're a great idea, and installed 2 about a year ago. Our kids are both old enough to change discs themselves, but we load up a heap of DVDs on a USB stick for each of them before we leave, and they have hours of entertainment. They can also play games on them, look at photos, play their music or watch DVDs.

The headrests take 5 minutes to change over, which is worth it for a few hours of pleasure for the kids on a long journey, and if they don't want to use them we play games - and have even been known to communicate too!!

                        Cheers

I am sure any competent auto interior trimmer could recover the after market headrests in the same material as the originals.

I had my heart set on installing after market headrest screens but after a bit of thinking, research and discussion my wife and I decided Santa will bring Ipads instead. They are much more versatile, can still be mounted on the headrests and probably workout cheaper in the long run.

Now I have my dual batt and electrics work out, I will probably wire in a couple of power sockets down the side of the rear seats for charging purposes.

Anymore advice on this topic. I have a 2yo and 5mth old, we have an iPad however I believe he will get more use out of this headrest on longer trips.

Any recommendations of what to get?

                              Hi Gents

I thought of getting this (see attached) for my 8 months old 150 GXL.
                              Supply + installed at $600/-

Planning to cross the Nullabor next month.
It will be grey leather, to match my Prado original grey fabric seats.
                              What's your thought?

                              Include free wireless headphones.
