Well I thought someone may have been playing a practical joke on me when I ensured that there were no rocks caught in the tread of my new Coopers, I crawled underneath the prado looking for a zip tie around the tail shafts, or CV shafts however no zip ties can be found. Hopefully the above explains the noise i'm hearing when driving along. The noise is not there at idle or when reving in neutral (whilst stationary). Any clues it's driving me bananas - appropriate metaphor considering I'm holidaying in Coffs Harbour.

Hi Mike,Originally posted by mickmac_42 View PostDoes the ticking get faster when you accelerate? Where does it sound like it's coming from (front/back/left/right)?
Mike
Its coming from the drivers side more so the front (I think) I'm noticing it above 40 Klm/hr.2010 Silver GXL Prado T/D Auto.

Well I was going to say rock in the tread... but anyway, do you have weather guards? I had a ticking/tapping sound which only occured at speed... it turned out that the double sided tape came off on the front end of the drivers side weather guard causing the guard to tap against the door as the wind hit it. Got some outdoor double tape and no more tapping sounds...William

Here is something my wife parks the Prado under a tree at work and there is always leaves getting into the grill area at the base of the windscreen, you only notice the sound as the speed picks up.

I have a similar sound from the right front. I believe its the plastic inner guard as the screw holding it in place against the ARB BB bash plate is MIA.
Just a thought.

Fabes, this may sound a bit strange but it helped solve a long term annoying ticking noise coming from the front of my car. Try wetting the windscreen and see if the noise goes away. If it does it will be the felt/plastic seal rubbing against the windscreen, took ages to track this down.Steve

Thanks for your suggestions guys, ithink I found what it is. When they have fitted my new tyres they haven't clamped up the weight on the inside of the rim correctly
as its a bit loose and makes the sound I'm hearing (I think) off to the tyre shop today - after visiting pebbly beach north of coffs
