That is bloody cheap! I was offered an extended warranty at a cost of $1900.00!!!! That is for three years and no offer for cheaper services for the extra three years. I am able to take up this offer at any stage during the first three years of the original factory warranty but might wait and see if I am offered such a deal as you guys.

I believe there is no factory warranty available after the three years has expired unless it was sold to you at original (new vehicle) point of sale. The normal additional 3 yr warranty in now through a third party insurance firm. There is a thread about this, I'll have a look for it.

If its the Toyota factory warranty I'd say definitely get the extra three years. but I suspect you'll find the dealer is offering their own dealer extended warranty. If that's the case read the warranty fine print very carefully and be aware you may be tied to servicing at that dealer for the extra three years.

I guess it depends what the warranty covers. Does it continue with the same conditions asthe factory warranty, or in the fine print does it say that the daelership has to do any reapairs if need be, and you have to actually contribute to the repair? I guess what you are buying is a type of insurance, and someone? is underwriting it...I would like to know who is underwriting, and what is covered and for how long (years/kms). I am tempted to investigate myself...let us know what you find out and what you end up doing, but in the mean time I am sure there are some folk who have actually made some claims within the extended warranty period, so perhaps they might share their experiences?

I would get my Prado serviced at the dealer I bought it from any way so the requirement to service via them is no change for me.

Extended Warranty on Prado 150 Series !
Guys, need some opinions on should I buy extended warranty for my 2009 Kakadu or not.
I bought my Kakadu in January 2010, it is a Sep/Oct 2009 make (this probably would have been out of the first batch that arrived on our shores when the 150 series was first released). In January 2013, it would click 3 years meaning the factory warranty and the capped price servicing would expire. I currently have 42,000km on the clock.
The dealership I bought my Kakadu off have sent me a letter last week asking me for $500 which would buy me an extended warranty for 3 years. They have said they would knock off $100 per service for the next 3 services if I took out their offer.
Could you pls give me your opinion on whether the extended warranty is worth the $500 they are asking for and in return I would have to get my Kakadu serviced by the dealership. My experience with servicing with this dealership over the past two and half years has not been bad, they have given me pretty ok service, there has not been any major issues so I have nothing to complain about anyway.
