Actually, UK and US towing capacity regulations don't require the down ball weight to be included, even though you need to take this off the capacity. In Australia this is taken into account already, it is total towing minus the down ball weight.Originally posted by krypto View Post

This occurs for all makes and models, Nissan Navaras are rated to 3300kg in UK and 3000kg here because we have already taken the 200kg downball weight off. Land Rover are the same.
Also, towing capacity is more about engine and transmission cooling. In Aus the hotter climates that these vehicles are expected to perform reliably in is much higher than in UK and much of the US, heat is the enemy for both these components so capacity is generally downgraded to protect these parts. Spoke to an ARB representative who mentioned that ARB has secured a pre-release version of the facelift Prado and performing R&D to develop the bullbar. Went into my local dealer today to get more info and they had only one VX and two GX in stock the VX was a cancelled order. They have an 8 day sale on at the moment so wanting to clear the last of stock not being to forthcoming with the update info.. Just emailed my local dealer for info and update on release date, his response was:
"There is a media embargo until November so unfortunately still do not have any further information in regards to pricing."

My local sales guys don't get training on the new Prado until early Nov but they were still expecting stock in the next week. Maybe not for public viewing ?Comment
