Had a look at the new pathfinder today, may have trouble getting over a kerb to find a path without knocking off that pretty skirt. But presumably it handles okay as it sits low to the ground and has some nice aero stuff attached.

Along the lines of what d4D said regarding the Paj but also the Prado has a ladder style chassis verses the monocoque style of the Pajero. Don't know what the Disco has.Originally posted by Bonito View PostNope. But I've considered a Paj n a Disco, n just wondering when Toyota would get serious about at least matching these two in terms of road handling. It's a fact the Paj and the disco leaves the prado in their wake when it comes to road handling. I just thought after all this hype about a new facelift and new KDSS that toyota was actually serious in getting better.

Toowoomba Toyota has a white one. Unable to tell if its a GXL. There is no model badge on the rear door. They look good but the front will be a challenge for bullbars! Centre instrument panel looks better with large touch screen. I assume its a GXL because of the 17 inch rims. Headlights are quite high up and the grill goes down quite a long way into the redisigned bumper.

nissan australia needed that new pathy update, since bring it to the US, they have increased sales 200% (still below competitor cars, but an improvement none to less)Originally posted by drop bear View PostToyota model upgrade stands for headlights, grill and tail lights.
The 200 got them, hilux got them, and now prado.
At least it doesn't look like the new Nissan Pathfinder!!!!!
i still prefer the old one if i was forced

Airbags are not a substitute for a poor suspension design, use the right tools for the job.

Nothing a set of airbags can't sort out, then you have the best of both worlds, and a bit more torque and goodies to play with. But I see your point.Originally posted by D4D View PostPajero may be at an advantage due to the independent rear, however as soon as you tow with it the camber of the rear makes it look like a V8 supercar and you soon scrub the crap out of your tyres.

It is possible to make heavy cars handle better and still be compliant off-road, but this comes at the cost of using lots of complicated systems or clever electronics. And with complicated systems always comes greater chance of failure. No doubt Toyota are heading in that direction but I hope they don't go too far.Originally posted by Bonito View PostNope. Have you considered a Ford Territory, Audi Q7, CX7, Subaru Outback etc. or some other AWD that is designed primarily for road handling?

My biggest curiosity still is, how does the new KDSS stack up. Is the kakadu still as truck like around corners?

Ad from a Victorian dealer in The Age's Drive section today lists the GX TD at $60,402 drive away and the Kakadu at $99.990 drive away. My local dealer has a bunch of new Prados on the website but the photos are all of the pre-facelift models so don't know if they have the new ones yet.

I think anything at all would be an improvement on the current 150 design...Originally posted by D4D View PostThe man is a comedian...
As much as it pains me to say this, I saw a new Kakadu on the road today in pearl white and I think it is an improvement on the original 150...
I do like the new look but I have invested too much and more to come on my current 120 series to trade it in. Maybe in 5 1/2 years time.
Who knows what will have then...Maybe a V6 diesel Prado...
Winston.
