After my last service there were two new stickers in the door sill with the numbers of two ECU upgrades to fix the problems described above

So based on everyone's posts - these upgrades are mainly for autos?

I had it done years ago and yes it was all about the auto. Part of the benefit of the flash upgrade is it erases the history so you start with a clean slate. If you then drive conservatively, it will get lazy again within a month. You need to show it who's boss with your right foot a bit to keep it nice.
