  • New GXL or Used Altitude

Time to really consider moving on from the 2004 120....
Had a look at the Local Toyota dealer today.
What would you choose at the same price?
    A new 2014 GXL OR a 2012 Altitude

At the same price the new GXL. Actually just bought one and love it. 1% finance on the new one if you need it, full warranty and known history - Doh

I can't wait to pick my new 2014 GXL up next Fri. Still deciding on all the accessories, as I bought it stock standard so not to pay any LCT

        Neither, I'd go the GX.

GXL, in fact pick mine up tomorrow. Reasons being known history, warranty and it has all I want and more in a four wheel drive.

Personally I would Go the Altitude, As I value the extra features over a GXL. We Bought Our 150 Prado about 18mths ago & looked at New GXL's but had made the error of driving a Kakadu first, it spoiled us so a GXL just did not cut it. So bought a 2year old Kakadu for the same price as New GXL.

Hard to say Rob. What has the Altitude got over the GXL. There nothing like a brand new car.

                Tough call,
                1% finance is attractive,
But so is the Leather, Sat Nav, CRAWL, Sunroof, Rear DVD and a few other luxuries. (It also has a colour coded ARB winch bar :-)

Why do you recommend the GX over the GXL

No rear seats which I wouldn't want, it would have everything I need and then some for less money.

Some people like buttons and technology and electrically adjusted leather seats and all those other things that come with the up spec models. I see all that stuff as just a list of things that can pack up in the bush, and I wouldn't have leather if it was being given away.

                        Each to their own though.

                        Cheers Andrew

That's OK, it's not real leather anyway. Well at least not the backs or sides. I bought the Kakadu used because it had the extra fruit like a bullbar, AT tyres, & the driver assist features over the GXLs in the dealer's yard; not so much for the leather.

Still as to the original question I'd probably choose the new GXL over the used Altitude for the same reasons others have stated.

It really depends on whether or not you like leather, I hate leather. Real leather or not it still sticks to your skin on a hot day and it has that upper class feeling to it where you don't want it to get dirty or muddy inside the vehicle. That's what I felt when I had cars with leather in it (I am so pedantic when it comes to the cleanliness of a car with leather in it).
I would purchase the new GXL because it is new and knowing that I will be the first owner. If I like leather, I would have purchased the new Kakadu. That said, if the Kakadu had an option of leather or no leather, I will buy the Kakadu with no leather.
