The benefit of these is you can use down to 80% DOD without any issues and they recover very quickly very good for winching. It's a custom job and not cheap but as I can run the fridge and all accessories of it and it can charge from a solar panel it's a good unit. Not cheap this is some pics of it's bigger brother and it's over 3K as you see it the 100 amp unit will be mid 2K. But you only need to by it once and it's ready to go.
But give them a call next week if you want something custom. When I get mine I'll post some pics of it in the prado. They can do a better price if you deal direct.
I would be very supprised if we saw a new motor AND increased towing capacity in a new Prado. Just look at the new shape Rav diesel when that was released, unproven motor and transmission for Au conditions so they slapped a 500kg towing limit (now increased to 1000kg) on it when the old old 4 c cyl petrol motor in the same car still had a 1500kg capacity from the start.
Personally, I could see a new motor to keep up with the Euro emission standards (and the other manufacturers) when the new model is released but very doubtful we will see any increase in tow capacity.
2013 Kakadu, pearl white, Cooper ST MAXX 275 65 18 123Q tyres, Safari Snorkel, ARB UVP, diff breathers, UHF GME TX3345, Red Arc 2nd battery, BMW luggage hdp, tint, ARB bull bar, synthetic winch, OME 2" lift, LED Intensity spot lights, ARB side steps, Kaymar rear bumper with 2 JC, spare and LED pole ligh, ARB compressor, ARB front air locker, Toyota rear diff lock.
My[QUOTE=raydes;467748]I've already got the best Prado they made ????? The 90 series would run rings around it. the 90 did everything better IMO.[/QUOTE
My 2001 VX 9o series did everything right. Replaced with a 2010 GXL 150 series has been such a disappointment & I want to get rid of it.
just came across the Euro 5 emissions that must be implemented by 2016,
makes 2017 model, release late 2016 an obvious date for something in the Prado/Hilux/Lancruiser range.
The Prado being the last one that got an update, might indicate that Hilux and LC will come in first.
for euro 5
"November 1, 2016, when all vehicles will have to comply, regardless of when they were launched."
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.
The current American import Prado has a barn door and the spare underneath the back end. Also lots of 4.0 litre V6's getting around. Cheap petrol helps. I was looking at getting a door skin for Pearl to make it look neater with the rear wheel carrier and Kaymar bar.
I suspect as before a ute will come out first and then a new wagon. (as mentioned above) The floods in Japan has set them back a couple of years.
Crystal Pearl Altitude 150 Landcruiser Prado. TJM sensor bar, brush guard, side steps. KM2 BFG on GXL alloys. Kaymar bar, Drifta and MSA fridge slide. ARB locker and compressor, and MK11 compressor and fuel filter bracket.

Trucks don't change direction any where near as often as a passenger car though.
Interesting comment, most trucks drive on the same roads cars do and even line haul pull off the road every couple of hours for breaks or fuel. After owning Euro cars and driving trucks, like most things you soon adapt to any differences.
Kev,
2010 Silver 5dr GXL, Auto, diesel, ARB Deluxe bar, ARB bash plates, lightforce 170's, safari snorkel, towbar, dual batteries, air bags, trans cooler, Kings/Koni's, ARB rack, Cooper S/T Maxx's, Rock Tamers, Beaudesert 2.75" exhaust and more to come.
In this state this is common: "Indicator broken, watch for finger."
LMAO, how true, although down here commonly just don't bother to even try and indicate.

Surely I'm not the only one that doesn't want to buy a brand new prado, then have to put an aftermarket bar and fuel tank in just so I can swing the glass up? I've been a 120 owner for many a year now and have gotten use to the barn door. Why not split like the pootrols?
What I do want on the other hand is a whooping 4.5 v8 turbo from the 70s (spent my mod money on chip and exhaust), not for fuel economy, but to go fast and make lots of noise!
Just my 2 dollars...
I thought I would be differant and get a silver prado...
2004 Grande, 4lt petty, Sov front bar, 9000 Lb tigers winch, factory tow bar, Fwd Rec points, Safari Snorkel, Bushskinz bash plates, Austrack roof top tent on Steel RTT rack, Kings awning, ARB under bonnet compressor, Coleman on Demand HWS, IPad with retina on a Ram mount running Hema Navigator, GME TX 3400, Tekonsha P3 Brake controller, and a Stihl 181.

Not sure I want to get rid of it but yes disappointed it cost so much for not a lot more than you'd get anywhere else and STILL a 3 year warranty when so many now do FIVE no I think my next car will be an Isuzu it's got the lot for $25 K less add to that the worrying reports of 150's going bang and injector problems you just dont expect THAT from a car that cost $75 K
just mt 2 bob's..............
