How do you watch a video on the front screen?

I haven't been able to figure it out.

Is there a av in socket?

Can you watch movies from iPod or usb? If so whats the file format.

Fit an aftermarket system, mine has radio, CD/DVD, USB, SD and SatNav. Watch movies mainly form the SD, also got 2 replacement headrests with screen in them for the kids in the rear.

I'm pretty sure you can, through the aux in connection (3.5mm standard headphone jack that does audio left, audio right and video). I haven't tried yet!

When I picked my new MY14 GXL up from the dealer a few weeks back he informed me that it's disabled in Australia (due to legal reasons) - Apparently.

My first thought (being a Computer Science guy) was "There's gotta be a way around that"... However, I haven't had time to look in to it yet. But I'm pretty sure you wont get it working without some sort of software mod/flash.

            I'll give it a try.

Also is there a second usb port somewhere?

I know with aftermarket stereo's, if they have the ability, they are required to be hooked up to the handbrake, and they're not supposed to work, until the handbrake is applied. Possibly similar to the OEM...

No, but I notice when my iPhone is plugged in that it registers as a video source, not sure if it will play anything. Suppose I could the manual.

Okay, I plugged in my Ipad and hit play on a video. Both from ipad and from av unit. it only played the sound. Handy if you want to watch video on ipad and have the sound go through the cars speakers.

Thanks Andyfive, sorry for some reason I thought you were talking about the red, white and yellow aux in cords.

I noticed in my '14 VX Prado there is a A/V option and when selected a blue screen comes up as if it is awaiting some sort of AV input - has anybody ever properly used this?

You have to modify the signal from the speed sense wire I think. I think someone in the USA make an interface box that fits a Lexus and will work on a prado. Sits in the speed sense wire line and tricks the head unit into thinking ur stopped, but still allows the gps to work. Google should yield some results.
Two comments, a) you'd want a hidden switch so you could disable it if ever pulled over, b) if you had a bad prang and the insurance co discovered ur nod you'd likely have the claim rejected.
