  • TJM Bullbar hitting plastic inserts

    Has anyone else with a T13 had this trouble?
    I already had them drop the bullbar and replace the inserts and now its happening again.
    Does anyone have any tips or measurements I can give these guys so they can drop it again properly???

    Which inserts? Picture would help.

      Its where the bullbar comes the closest to the body of the car, which is the painted plastic insert that TJM supplies and puts in.

        That looks like the front bumper that would have been cut to fit the bb.

            Same here. General comment: Although the inserts as such are actually quite a good idea (b/c they allow the bar to be closer to the chassis) TJM ruined it by using the cheapest possible plastic. TJM workshop stuffed my bumper cut (headlight squirters were unusable) so I have to put up with this El cheapo stuff which I intended to avoid in the first place. This time I'd opt for an ARB bar instead.

              That doesn't look good. Get that checked when you sort out the spacing between the bar and body...

                Yes looks like rust to me, called and emailed them with a big list of all the problems I've had with them, to let them know how frustrated I am with their work. Waiting for a reply. I'll be getting them to fix the spacing, replacing the inserts and They will have to fix the bubbling too. Its been nothing but hassles with TJM

                  Not good for such a well known company but I have one and it seem to work well so far
                  Have you got the winch cradle on yours and if so can you measure from the mounting holes to the bottom of the cradle as I need to make up one for my new winch

                    Good to know as i was about to ring them for a quote on a TJM T13 for a new 150 GXL i just picked up.

                    I may possibly ask them in general about "a guy i know just got one fitted here now its bubbling etc"

                        I beleive the space is there to fit a winch but it has a plate over it

                          I went out and had a look at mine and it has rub marks on the bar at the point where it starts to bend down towards the tyre (top left of your 1st pic at the apex of the crease). It's on both sides so I can only surmise the bar has been hitting the plastic at some point.

                          I too have the plastic inserts but they are not painted. I inherited the bar with the vehicle but don't know who or where it was fitted so I can't really blame TJM for poor fitment. I do know the vehicle originally had an ARB Sahara Bar which the owner says was on it when traded, I'm guessing the dealer swapped it because someone there liked it better.

                            Thats a shame you can't do a follow up on that bar! its not a big deal to have a slight rub on that plastic but I guess you better keep your eye out for rust on the bar.

                              I've already had issues with rust on the middle bash plate that goes on the underside of the bar, TJM gave me a replacement plate though. I've also got a very small patch of rust on part of the winch cradle, must remember to chase them up on that as they were supposed to call me back about it.
