Hi, just got a question on the EGR blank off, would any one have some pictures of where it is located? I have read a few threads but can not find any pictures of a 2012 1KD-FTV, I have looked under the bonnet and it must be hiding well, instructions would be a bonus, thanks

Have a search, there is a how to thread on here. Plate has an 8mm ish hole in it. Best used (apparently) with a catchcan. My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Since the owner of the vehicle face booked the pics of this egr I cleaned at 37,000k, it's panic.
7mm is the size :-)
This place has them pre drilled

It's very difficult to do the job, if you can't figure out where it goes, you could be in trouble.
It goes between the head & the egr cooler.

So the 7mm hole doesn't let any of the black soot through? Just trying to figure out how much soot gets thought the hole. A bit like wearing a torn rubber glove isn't it?
Sorry, I just don't see the logic? Fully blank or leave open. Or attach a filter to the hole to catch soot. The ECU throws codes when blanked because of the pressure it is expecting from EGR valve isn't there and upsetting the manifold pressure, right? My white GX auto build thread - clicky

Could an air line be plumbed from the intercooler to the intake behind the throttle body to relieve the negative manifold pressure (caused by blanked EGR and closed throttle butterfly) and avoid throwing a code?My white GX auto build thread - clicky

The logic is, simple way to reduce the very bad effects.
When there's a better one that is invisible. Please share.

Damn, i wish they sold catch cans here, every single diesel Toyota (They sell thousands of diesel Toyotas) here has the 1KD FTV and i still havent seen absolutely anyone selling catch cans. In fact, the Hilux is one of the best selling cars here even though its not cheap by any means. I wonder how those engines look with so many kilometers on them?
My Prado is still basically new, only has around 4K and i was thinking about ordering the catch can kit from western filters directly from AU. With the shipping fees it will end up being at least a $400 mod.

You want a $10 egr plate to restrict the abrasive soot, filthy unfiltered exhaust going back in your engine.
If you can d.i.y, it's cheap. You need lots of patience, you need to be good with your hands, & allow 5 hrs or so. Prick of a job.
This place has them with the 7mm hole http://www.tnnengineering.com/

In the mean time, here s your comparison, 26mm vs 7mm.
That is a http://www.tnnengineering.com/ plate, had a customer show it to me today before he put it in.
Pre drilled ready!

I'm told they do, don't & sometimes do & sometimes don't light up like a Christmas tree.
I like allowing a small amount through, so it can still do what is was designed to do.
Soot is reduced greatly.
