Spare key

Our 2014 GXL worked that way out of the factory but you can get Toyota to change it so it will only start if the key is in the "front" of the car. This means you can leave the key inside the car in the back and it won't start unless they actually find the key and move it to the front. Unless someone saw where you left the key inside it shouldn't be too hard to hide it inside somewhere.

My wife carries the spare key with the battery flipped upside down. Easy to change if needed in 30 seconds.
