  • Rusting door bolts

Noticed the other day my '11 GX has rusting door bolts. No other sign of rust anywhere on the vehicle except where the bull bar got the paint scratched off. Anyone else noticed anything similar? Were these not coated properly? Just curious.

Not necessary, but ordered a replacement set from Toyota.

Hi GXwiz, I have a '11 GX and like all 150 Prados (I think) it has bare metalwork in under the dash and all the metal framework under the seats including the third row seats (if you have them) is also bare metal and prone to rust at the first hint of moisture entering the cab through a loose gromet or whatever, not a good look for Toyota.
I spray cans of "Inox" (Bunnings, have it now) all over the place and "Lanox" (Inox with lanolin) all over underneath the car and up into the chassis, inside the doors etc etc, give your bull bar a burst as well, both products form a long lasting film over the metal, lubricates and protects from rust, it's good stuff, doesn't smell too bad but it's a bit oily on the tongue.
