This thread is really quite entertaining, never thought of buying a Prado for super economy commuting.

LOL. In my case I need to justify going from a 4l V6 to the Diesel. Easily the diesel wins fuel consumption wise but not so in the performance department. However its not too bad considering.

1.5 pallets of lovely warm export - even if I did that I think the rear would still be too hard compared to the prados.

IM at 9000k with a GXL. IM getting 9.6 around town. Creeps to mid 10s if in bumper to bumper. Getting high 7s on country drives and 15.5 when towing my 2ton caravan.
I have a steel arb bar and roof rack with bike carriers.

Not wishing to hijack the thread, but I have noticed that the trip computer on my 2010 150 GXL is reporting around 3 to 4 LHK more than the scangauge does at 2500 rpm in 4th sports. The recorded fuel uplift figures agree with the scangauge.

I thought they both got their data from the same point, namely the ECU. Anyone had the same?

Hi Prado owners, I'm on my 3rd Prado now and the worst economy so far. The previous 3.0 averaged 9.3 for the 3 year life.
Given I have fitted AT3 , I expected a slight increase, but so far after 4000km's mostly in the burbs and a few country trips it averaging 10.7.

As has been said above you need to have a few km's on the clock to see better consumption. My guess is you might need 20,000km on the clock to see low consumption. I am only at 7400km and did a run at 110km/h to Bunbury and back. Got 9.7l/100 down and 7.2l/100 on the return. Just have a 2 inch lift at the moment but had maybe 100kg in the boot. To me it's getting better the km's I do.

With 6000 Km on the dial mine's running at 10.7... Have noticed as low as 9.6 after refuel and on highway... but does creep up afterwards... have noticed it as high as 11.2 about 300 km after refueling. So I suspect it does vary a lot depending on driving conditions... Would love to see it get lower than 9 though!

I have just done another fill up and the best tank yet at 10.3l mix of 10% highway / 90% city. Previous tank was 12.7l and that involved 10% off road / 10% Highway / 30% towing and the rest city driving which isn't bad either.

                        Regards
                        Doug

With over 4K on mine now, fuel economy is still woefull.. Last weekend a gentle trip down the Hume to Melbourne returned a 12.5 on the way down and an 11.7 on the way home. That is sitting on exactly 110 with cruise on. I have seen with my own eyes another 2016 that was doing under 9s, so yet another thing to raise with the dealer I guess..

And to add to this interestingly, after 5hrs cruising on the Hume, pull into the driveway and it decides to do a dpf burn !

Have a read of my post on DPF observations under the diesel section. It explains your observation well.

Very odd you are getting such high fuel use. Are you driving on flat tyres :-).

Two months since purchase 7K on the clock and never seen mine dip below 9... that said, I haven't refueled and go straight on the highway.... must try that...

                                Cheers
