Hi Doug, I hadn't noticed until I read your post but my system is asking me if I want to install this mandatory update. I know that my firmware is older than yours but wonder what this "mandatory update" is? I am reluctant to do it without knowing as it may be fixing a bug that allows us to get root access to the file system. (pigs might fly)

Yes you are right, if you download it says "details" before you install. There are minor improvements to Pandora and addition of "Travel Time" app
This would be wonderful if only my f**king map wasn't out of date.

Interesting... I will connect my phone and Link to see it gives me a message.
PS Toyota Customer Support called me and I raised the map issue. Just got the 'usually every 18 months but you will need to pay' line. So being currently Q4 2014 this might mean a Q2 or Q3 2016 update? Better start saving!

Based on when you purchased your car if your maps are older than your car purchase date you should be able to get a free maps upgrade. I will be taking this to the ACCC when I need it. Johnlynn is also struggling with this one as well.

                Yes, that would be nice.

I'm particularly peeved at the moment with our current mapping system. Earlier in the week I was driving to Aqua Park in Coolum (awesome place by the way if you have kids). I was towing my boat at the time. The GPS displayed two turn-offs and told me to take the second one. When I got to the that spot in the road, there was no turn-off. Because I was towing and couldn't do a U-turn on the winding country road, I had to drive for a further 18 minutes to get back to that spot again.

Grrrr - and this isn't the first time I've had something like this happen. I made a mental note to always use the navigation on my phone from now on when towing.

Yes the maps issue!! My complaint to WA customer protection resulted in them contacting the dealer, (they would not tell me who they contacted) who said I could have the 2014 map SD card at their (the dealers) expense. It has been on order for many weeks now, when I ask when it will be delivered the dealer tells me they do not know and "it could take months"
The senator for the motoring enthusiasts party has contacted someone higher up in Toyota on my behalf. They have promised to look into the issue but that was weeks ago and neither I nor the Senator's office have heard back from them.
I know this is a first world problem and perhaps I shouldn't get so wound up about it but why is the Australian market treated like this?
If you check on the Toyota UK website you will see that you can download a map of anywhere in Europe for free. How does Toyota Australia get away with this?

Hi Hergy, I can see why they would like to keep on the right side of you!
do you know the part number of the card they got you? I was told I needed PZQ 6000250 but I think this was later revised to 750. It is so long ago that I have forgotten. Could you also confirm that the one they changed for you was a 2013 to a 2014? which is what I am waiting for, it would be interesting if your dealer could get one but not mine.
