  • Spare tire lock

Anyone know where we can get an upgraded spare tire lock to better protect against theft ?

If it is the same arrangement as a 120, I purchased a railer hitch pin lock,
then got a freind to turn it on his lathe to the same shape as the bolt on the tyre mount
    that the original lock uses.

Use to be able to remove the Prado spare wheel lock cover with the Camry wagon key...
My spare gets the same mounting torque as all the other wheel nuts 83 ft./lbs.
Don't know if the ice heads trying to knock your spare off could handle the strain, but it will not make it easy for them..

Again, If it is the same as the 120, one key fits all!

            You don't reveal your location.

Obviously live in a higher crime rate location than most because theft of spare wheels from the rear of cars is virtually un-heard of.

the lock is only to make it a bit harder , if someone wants your spare its not to hard to take out the four bolts holding the spare wheel carrier to the door. They could take the wheel off the carrier later.
