Well I'm glad someone else has said they don't like the look of the 150's. I just can't bring myself to like the way they've designed the bodywork. That huge bulbous front bumper really seems to hang down a lot and just looks god awful in my opinion. And don't get me started on the dashboard design and layout, just don't like it at all. Similarly with the way they've got the rear seats folding down to become the "floor" in the back, something just doesn't seem right there although I haven't actually mucked with them yet, just seem em folded down.

If ARB can come up with any sort of better looking bullbar then they'll be on a goldmine. ALL Toyota bar pics I've seen to date I just can't believe. They're butt awful in my humble opinion.

Lift it. Give it better rubber. Remove god awful front bumper, and plead with ARB to produce a better bullbar. Then we might be getting somewhere.......

Yep, it looks totally f$%^ed up but I can almost thing that's what a few 90 series owners first thought when that first sleek sexy 120 rolled into town. Not much can be done about the dash, but maybe it might grow on you over time. I would suspect that a hell of a lot of that crap plastic rubbish will be cut out for a descent steel bar to be put in place. Definitely would not put one of those weird arsed looking 3K bling alloy things on the front. I suspect ARB, TJM, Iroman, etc... will all bring out the current styling bar (which looks wicked) to through at this thing but will require a significant trimming to the plastic or extend the steel further, which would also look queer.

I can understand your disappoinment. I grabbed a copy at Coles yesterday and was surprised at the poor level of journalism. Not what you would call objective by any means. It was like something that came straight from the PR department at Toyota. What a missed opportunity to do a real comparison between the three different models. These days I'm finding the opposition magazines better value, and better reading.

Re: New Prado 4WD Action Comparo Photo Shoot

Interesting. Do you suppose Toyota lent the 150 with strings attached? Seems like too good a story to give a pathetic innings. Somethings gotta give surely? Gotta talk up the new and talk down the old...... etc etc. Might just be that 4x4 Action didn't want to play the game......or something. Though I do note that 4x4 Action seems extremely pro Nissan, with the editions I have read anyhow. Toyota articles all too brief and far between. Haven't read all that many issues though, like maybe 10 or so. Maybe they think that popularity lies with Nissan's and not something like a Prado article??

                  Just a theory.

Well just read the article and it does seem to be a bit bias but on a possitive it is good to see other atrticles with a Prado in it. The Cape Melville story is a good read and some good photos of the Prado in action.

Re: New Prado 4WD Action Comparo Photo Shoot

Grabbed a copy of the mag yesterday to see what all the fuss is about - and after reading it I can see why! It doesn't really surprise me how good the 150 is, but after following all the efforts Matt and Glenn went through to assist the mag, and how pumped they were to be going on the shoot, the article was disappointing. To me, I don't think it 'compared' as much as it sold how good the 150 is - which to me thinks, how is this article going to be different to the 'trip of a lifetime' they have also recently done with the 150.

And fair play, they could have done a half page or so on Matt and Glenn's rigs, cos they are definitely awesome.

In my opinion, all your points are justified Matt, especially your comment on the photos, which were crap to say the least. Lots of text also.

I agree with the above comments.

To me it was more a sales pitch of the 150 rather than a comparison of the three vehicles.

And this comes as no surprise for this magazine, hell their subscription department can't even delivery before it hits the news stand, the product of the month is always the best till the next advertiser comes along just look at milo and the amount of "the best" gear that has come and then disappeared (along with the advertising)
