  • Delivery times? - New arrival shipment

    Hi All,
I recently had the misfortune of drowning my 07 DiD Pajero and am 99% certain it will be written off tommorow morning, so I will be in the market for a new 4by.
I loved the Paj, but now want more refinement. I was interested in a LR Disco 4 which is a far superior vehicle in many aspects, but after doing the maths and factoring in resale, the Prado will actually work out to be much much cheaper on a 2 year lease. Combine that with the fact that my second set of wheels with Cooper ST-Cs will fit straight onto the Prado and that the aftermarket will develop accessories much faster (I want a tourer now damnit) and I'm strongly leaning towards a VX D4D Prado as a pragmatic choice.

Last time I was truck shopping I disliked the 120 Prado due to its sloppy handling and bodyroll. Having driven the 150 VX with KDSS I can say this is much improved. Typical Toyota to not have it as an option across the range! The rear seat configuration blows goat with the way the scuff trim panels are integrated but no doubt there will be work arounds.

I'm just wondering how long people are waiting for delivery? I have read some who are waiting until March/April for GXLs. What about the lower volume models (VX and Kakadu)? I don't want to be getting around in my wife's econobox for too long!

    Re: Delivery times?

    Hi Schniff,

I have a Kakadu on order, I have been told March or April (Ordered November). Before though I had the VX on order (My wife got to see inside the kakadu... I'm not complaining ) The VX delivery was mid to late March.

Can you get one of the lot? Or with a lease do you have to place an order?

I have purchased a $2000 festiva to get around in until mine arrives, worst thing about the festiva is it has no air!! Wagga has been getting 40+ days.

    Best of luck!

      An aftermarket suspesion fixes that.

At least you did the right thing with the very noisy and truck like DiD and drowned it

Shhh. Good to see someone else over here from the "other" forum.

I'm getting a shorty and ordered mid December and have been told to expect delivery early to mid Feb.
        Thanks,

My Father inlaw ordered his GXL D4D Auto just before Christmas & was told mid April delivery...

It is to early to get a demo & most of the dealers seem to only keep Kakadu's on the lot...

            Hi Schniff,

We ordered our GXL D4D Auto mid December, with delivery expected early to Mid February.

Looks like being on time with delivery at this stage (checked yesterday).

            Cheers,

              Hi All

Ordered a GXL TD in white just on xmas, and advised will be manufactured Feb, delivered March. What I have also found out since is that Toyota have a certain amount of retail allocations(non discounted) available, and a certain amount of fleet allocations(discounted price). They try to balance this out, so may explain why a particular vehicle you see on a lot may be unavailable.

              Regards

I can only imagine what the last week or two must have been like without aircon. It's good to see another guy from Wagga on here!

                  Re: Delivery times?

Well, I've had a win. Negotiated with a dealer who had a black VX in stock and he has organised a swap for a Silver one coming from interstate. Paid just under 74k on the road with towbar.
Its going to be an 09 build but hopefully 2010 plated. In any event I need a car now, so its not a big concern.

It should get here in 3 weeks!

                      Re: Delivery times?

I ordered an SX in early Jan and it was delivered a week later.

Some of the accessories like the towbar will be fitted at the first service (1000k) which is not a problem.

I wanted a light colour and silver was conveniently available.

It is 09 manufacture but as it will be kept for 5 years or more it wont matter much when I come to trade it.

                        Hi All

I ordered my diesel GXL on the 30th December, asking for 2010 build. Toyota have just let me know it will be built late Feb or early March and delivered about one month later. At least ARB may have a towbar by then :?

Just got a call from Toyota regarding my GXL D4D ordered on the last week December, they said that they were going to build the car in mid March or so.....who knows when delivery will be.... maybe they are busy fixing Prius brakes and accelerator pedal sticks in the meantime
