      Re: Delivery times?

We ordered a gxl Auto diesel at the end of December and just got a call from the dealer...it's currently travelling across the ocean somewhere and will be ready in 3 weeks. Earlier than we expected! Will be stoked if it arrives before Easter 8)

        Re: Delivery times?

        HI All,

My wife and I ordered our white D4D GXL Auto on the 22nd of Feb, and the dealer called last week and told me that we'll be taking delivery at the end of this month. According to the 'Track your Toyota' system, it's landed and currently sitting in the 'transport company's storage yard'. So we should be waiting just on 5 weeks from order to delivery. $60 800 drive away.

This is my first Toyota after two GU Patrols so I'm still getting used to the idea. I have a long list of accessories and modification that's going to end up on it. The last Patrol did 'The Cape' last year and this new vehicle will be set up for similar experiences.

        Happy days.

        Neale.

          Re: Delivery times?

I find it amazing when I read these threads on waiting times, then drive past my local Toyoya dealer and for the past week there has been more than 5 prados siting out the front.

Now I don't know what model or spec they are and haven't been in for a look, but they couldn't be all petrol or diesel for that matter, and there is a few different colours to choose from. :?

              Re: Delivery times?

Was told 3 hours ago it would be 24th March delivery to dealer, now just been called and told 31st March! Whats going on, how hard can it be to get delivery time frames accurate in this day and age, surely you punch something in to the computer and it spits out a date. Don't understand why it would change. The dealer even said they have known dates to change in/out all the way through and it could get pulled in a week or could get pushed out, they just don't know.....not a happy camper today

Anyone seen any white GXL Diesel Autos on the Sunshine coast looking for a new home?

                Re: Delivery times?

Went to Melbourne on the weekend to break in the D4D... Bad idea that was, ended up with 4 sizeable hail dents on the bonnet and 12 to 20 on the roof  only 2 days old.

Tried to share a few photos but got this error:

Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.

                I'll try again later

                  Re: Delivery times?

After asking lost of questions of Toyota and on Pradopoint, and a few test drives, going over the rear cargo area of it and a 200 series, and asking the wifey her preference, have decided to place my order. Will be sending letter to the dealers in Brisbane inviting them to provide their best price. It'll be a Silver Kakadu Petrol. I'll go for the Toyota Cargo Barrier. Will take it to Wynnum towbars for one of their installs having spoken to them about it and they give me the most confidence they know what they are doing. Will wait for ARB to release their Sahara bar to suit (I'm told expect April - 6 weeks or so behind the deluxe bar that has recently been released). Shouldn't be an issue as I am expecting a wait on delivery. Will also wait for Safari snorkel to be released. Am thinking about the General Tire Grabber A/T or the Wrangler Silent Armour as available tire options here and now other than the Cooper ATR. Will provide an update once I get a sale contract and delivery time.

                    Hi

Did you drive a hard deal, I did with Oldmac here in Brisbane and they sold the car allocated me out to a "VIP" customer, that with dodgy dealers appears to be a regular practice I understand. That would explain the variances in delivery times. I ended up buying my car from SciFleet.

                    Regards, Richo.

Then why cant I get mine?

Mine is a shorty, which might be a bit harder to get but it is a very common color (silver). I was told a Feb delivery when I ordered in December, but on the tracking website it says that a production month has not even been scheduled yet. The dealer can only tell me it has been orderd (der!) and that it is just a matter of waiting. I hate waiting
Note likely they are 2009 builds and customers now requesting 2010. I was looking for an ebony 2010 Petrol VX with black interior and got offered 2 diesels, the ivory interior and other combinations of 2009 models. For 2010 delivery estimate April/May with nothing confirmed until an order placed. So they have availability just not the combinations that customers want or at discount levels attractive enough to take a 2009 build.

Yeah was a pretty hard deal I guess, interestingly when I asked for the details to 'Track my new Toyota' on the Toyota website I was told that they don't have the information to do that and that the website is not as up to date as their system??? hmm conspiracy theory here maybe? I guess good things come to those who wait....and wait....

How did you know they sold the car allocated to you out to a "VIP" customer? I would gladly take my business elsewhere if another dealer had what I wanted in stock and I didn't loose my $1000 deposit and gave me the same deal.

Would also be interested to know if others have been able to Track their new Toyota through the web site and what I need to ask for from the dealer to do this.

i found the tracking really acurate ( icant account for the overseas and transport section) but i looked on it and said car was at dealer so i rand them and he said how did i know, i chcked the tracker and it had turned up 2 hours prior so i guess the whole system is probably accurate, i found the original delivery date came forward about 2 weeks, and was told the only derlay would be if the car missed the boat (2 weeks to fill a boat)

                                Hi

When I asked where the car was after three delayed deliveries, they said they would look into it, I said don't bother cancel the order and return my deposit, their answer was that I would be in breach of contract, when I told them that they had included the VIN number on the contract that was when they told me Telstra was the VIP customer and that car on contract had gone to them. I told them deposit back or they would now be in breach of contract. Guess what nearly a month for the deposit to be returned. I thought dodgy car salesman had gone...apparently not.
