Spoke to the KIngsgrove office today and he sent me an email with the picture of the unit. Tried to upload the attachment, but it appears to be too big (I am not a computer expert).

He told me he will be receiving a new unit in a week or so, and he can then evaluate it. No price yet, but it has many extras - DVD, GPS, MP3, iPOD, CD, tyre pressure monitor, etc. Some items need not be used or can be disabled, he will evaluate it first. It fits into the slot of the current small screen above the radio.

Will wait and see.

Hi Dan and Dave,

Thank you for the info. Looking at the demo on their website:
http://www.navion.net.au/demo/demo.html
I found that this unit is probably OEM in Taiwan, judging from the radio stations and iPod songs played in the demo. However, I cannot find Navion brand locally. Please post your experience if you actually are going to have it installed.

I rang the owner of the business a couple of days ago, to see how his test was going with the trial unit. He remembered me, but said there was nothing to it, just breezed over the testing he said he was doing. All a bit strange. Said he had a couple of vehicles lined up to fit the unit to.

For those that know the area, he operates now from an office above the car wash building at the intersection of King Georges Road and Princes Highway, Blakehurst. Said you can fit up there, or usually he sends one of his fitters to your address.

Needs a bit more investigation.

sorry i can't tell you, i'm just reposting this information.. i'm keen to get one of these to replace the tiny screen in the GXLs, but for me it won't be until next year, and when i'm certain they are reliable enough.

Having a play around on Ebay and found this... Fingers crossed something will come out soon from VMS or the likes that is similar, not a fan of the current offerings out there, I want something to replace the little screen...

as with most of the import gps's there are maps available namely route66, and i use IGO8 with latest maps love the gps software and easily upgradable with skins etc oh yeah and also run OZI exploroer hema maps for off road
