  • 150 specific tools for touring in the 150

Searched but could not find (although I am sure this info will be on here somewhere).
Can anyone advise 150 specific tools that they consider must haves when touring long distance in their Prado.
I have the basics covered (socket set, screwdrivers, spanners, etc). Thanks

If you are in a group you can share the load, however>>
If you are going truly remote, solo, for a week to a few weeks (ie Canning Stock Route, Carson River Track, Anne Beadell etc):

your basics are a good start, plus extenders for the sockets and stubby screw driver kit

    - you must be able to repair tyres - bead breaker (ie Tyre Pliers), tyre leavers, plugs, patches, adhesives, talcum powder, valve stems, inner tube etc
    - arc welding rods etc
    - bolt extractor set (for when you round the head off a bolt),
    - pliers, wire cutters, vice grips, hammer, breaker bar, small/medium files (rat tail, flat, half moon)
    - small wire brush
    - some pin punches
    - smallish steel chisel
    - circlip pliers
    - Allen Keys
    - Ideally a long flat screwdriver with the tang out the top of the handle (useful all-rounder)
    - a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is worth its weight in salt
    - work torch

    Battery powered tools:
    - impact driver (plus drills, ideally carbide tipped, drivers, socket fitting), or impact wrench
    - angle grinder (SS cutting blades, grinding blades, and maybe wood blade), Li battery charger

    Ideally an OBD Scan tool
    Small multi-meter, small soldering iron
A propane or butane gas torch (handy for starting camp fires too)
Then there are all manner of spares: wire, nuts & bolts, adhesives, rubber, wire, belts, filters, shockers, duck tape, solvents, MAF sensor cleaner, wheel stud bolts, wheel nuts, locktight etc etc

If you stay on the bitumen and main gravel highways you can cut this down a lot.
