2020 Prado DPF fault?

Today I was commuting from Bathurst to Sydney and leaving Bathurst, my car started its DPF clean.
I thought nothing of it as its pretty regular at doing this. It gets to about three bars and will then kick in.
Today it was doing its burn, it got down to one bar and at the same time, a series of engine faults appeared and the car went into limp mode. Check engine light luminated and vehicle in limp mode. All with less than 5000kms on the clock.

Now i've been around Prado's enough now to know about the early DPF issues and I'm one of those who is at the moment suing Toyota over a 2016 Prado that shat itself.

However, I thought it had been resolved with the new revisions.

Feel free to have a look at this - it doesn't show it happening - just more about me trying to not be "a Karen" and talk about my experiences.

Can you tell me if you've experienced any DPF issues in the newer models? If so, what were the symptoms for you? Or could this be simply a coincidence and there is another thing that is causing it to fail?

Certainly concerning and disappointing for you. However, warranties are provided for this very thing: modern vehicles are complex machines and failures like this are most likely to occur during the warranty period. Call your local dealer (you probably have already) and get the matter investigated and resolved as a priority. Demand a loan vehicle for the duration of the repair and demand a report when you pick up the vehicle afterwards. The cause may be something unrelated to the DPF.

My Jan-2017 GX suffered a 5th injector failure last December at around 93,000km. All elements of the DPF system were replaced without question by the local dealer. The only disappointment was the it took 24 hours for them to get the replacement parts in (I had expected that dealers would hold the key parts in stock due to the current class action environment). Our Prado was back on the road within 36 hours of drop-off. Since then, DPF management has been textbook accurate. It's hard to compare my experience with yours: the 2016 Prado had very limited capability to report DPF issues - before my DPF monitor, I was driving "in the dark". It seems , judging by similar posts on Facebook , that this issue has not yet been resolved on the current models. A few are still going into limp mode without warning , and drivers are not being given the chance to even press "the button". Its definitly much better than previous models , but still happening.

If you have the latest Prado with the beefed up engine etc it could be something else.
Judging by reports some drivers are experiencing a new type of issue.

have you had the first oil change? saw someone sawing they problems they had with codes were solved when the original 0w20 was replaced with the 0w30. hope you got it sorted ok.

Hi a787100, did you manage to find out if the issue was related to the DPF? We are looking to buy a 2021 model soon but am a little concerned that the DPF may still have these issues! Thanks!

Check engine light with Lane departure warning failure & Front collision warning failure doesn’t sound DPF related to me, I think it was just coincidence it happened while doing a burn as the two front sensors aren’t related to the DPF system.
