Has anyone ever received a definitive response from Toyota about the roof load capacity of a Prado 150? I've seen comments about ..."lets assume your roof load capacity is 100Kg" when trying to factor in how much weight can be placed on a Rhino Rack but I've never seen anywhere on YouTube or on this forum a definitive response that someone has received from Toyota about what the actual roof load capacity is. Yeh, I haven't seen anything definitive either. 100 Kg is repeated all over the place though. It'd be nice to see it in black and white. -

I did note that the install instructions for the GX 3 bar roof rack does contain a rating part number PZQ30-60180

Maximum carrying capacity: 100kg evenly distributed over the three cross bars. Maximum carrying capacity off-road: 66kg evenly distributed over the three cross bars. • The maximum carrying capacity specified in the fitting instructions and on the cross bars should not be exceeded. The capacity noted in the vehicle owners handbook should be observed. Where the load capacity differs, the lower of the nominated load capacities applies. • When the vehicle is to be used in rough off road conditions, please build a safety factor of 1.5 into the maximum carrying capacity, 66kg for off-road use. Although the roof cross bars are tested and approved to AS1235-2000, Australian conditions can be much more rigorous.07 GXL D4D M6.

Page 190 of my GXL user manual states "do not exceed 80kg cargo weight on the roof luggage carrier"
How much more definitive do you want ?
and in case you want to argue, page 188 of the owners manual defines what the 'roof luggage carrier is' ie: roof rails and cross rails'.Comment

That is using the factory roof rails that come with GXL and higher. If you remove those and attach heavy duty mounts directly to the 6 mounting points, the roof load rating increases to 100 Kg as peterg4508 mentioned above.Originally posted by simong View Post

I have an update… Prado 150 roof capacity is 150kgs, Landcruiser 200 is 200kgs and guess what, the new 309 Series Landcruiser is only 90kg. My son who just bought a new 300 series is not happy.Comment

Sozjack, I'm a few months late but can you please show us where you got these specs? For what style of racks, vehicle models, and if they genuine or not etc?

"Prado 150 roof capacity is 150kgs" - that is not the case. Might have been a mistaken salesperson saying that.
The roof limit is 80 Kg with the GXL and higher factory roof rails, 100 Kg if the heavy duty roof rails are fitted.
