  • Scan gauge11 advice sought

    Hi,
Just traded in my 2013 (3.0L 5 speed) Update model GXL today for a new 2.8L 6 speed GXL.
For those interested ordered in August 2022 and delivered today.

I have used a 2015 model Scangauge11 on my 2013 Prado showing - coolant temp, transmission temp, current fuel use and average fuel use.
I find it very useful as I tow now a 2500kg caravan which I bought the new car for.

I am usure, so some questions:-
    1. Can I use my scan gauge without updating to the latest software? Should I update? why?
    2. What should I show? (thinking of coolant, transmission, average fuel use and ???
    3. Can you show DPF % till regeneration? useful for monitoring DPF?
    4. Can you show EGT ? needed ?
    5. Any other thoughts/ideas/ advice
    6. Where are the codes for the above ? Scangauge website?

    Thank you in anticipation

    David

    To answer your questions:-
    1. Can I use my scan gauge without updating to the latest software? Should I update? why?
Gearbox ATF Temperature, Selected Gear, Torque Converter Lockup data uses a new format, requiring updated software
    2. What should I show? (thinking of coolant, transmission, average fuel use and ???
I have a MY2016 and log ATF Temperature (incl. TC outlet temp), Selected Gear, Torque Converter Lockup, Speed, Revs, Gear, Soot level, DPF Temperature
    3. Can you show DPF % till regeneration? useful for monitoring DPF?
I log DPG Soot level % and DPF temperature (Most of the time, DPF temperature is academic until a regeneration burn occurs)
    4. Can you show EGT ? needed ?
    Refer to reply to 3
    5. Any other thoughts/ideas/ advice
I also tow a 2500kg (offraod hybrid) caravan. Limit the gearbox to S4 when towing. Also added a Davies Craig ATF radiator to keep the temperature down.
    6. Where are the codes for the above ? Scangauge website?
    ScanGauge2 for Toyota X-Gauge Codes

I don't have a scangauge but have converted the parameters to suit my CAN interface.

The codes you are after are on this site, do a search. I have used them with a SG II on a 2018 GXL.
Some of the codes have changed on the 2021 model, but those codes are here somewhere also.

I've traded up to an Scanguage III and re-homed my SG II. The III model is far superior and comes preloaded with useful codes including Current Gear and Torque Converter Lockup State.
From memory I only had to program one of my old gauges into the SG III.

          Hi Bluedog16,

I have posted most of the available Scangauge X-Gauge codes for your model in the following link. The only one you will be missing from those you mention is the DPD Soot Load % which I haven't worked out the PID code for yet and has changed in the post Jul 21 update from that used earlier (but you have the DPF level bar graph display as a standard dash gauge).
Hi All, I have been researching online and playing around creating Scangauge X-Gauge codes for my Nov 2021 VX Prado and thought I would share. Here is what I have found so far (works with AU Software Version: 4.52AU but may also be OK for anything from 4.22 on). ITEM TXD RXF RXD MTH NAME STATUS

            Hi ptommo59,
Thank you for your reply and the posting of the codes on the Forum for members to use.

Scangauge Australia have told me "there is no DPF x-gauge avialable for my model".

Considering everything I am considering whether to upgrade to the ScanGauge3 model.
            Thanks
            David

              Hi Bluedog16,

No problems, I have located a heap of other items available for our Jul 2021+ vehicles but many are no of interest to most people.

The DPF code does exist as it turns up as PM Accumulation Ratio Bank 1 in the list of available live data on Techstream and on the list of available Toyota gauges on the Scangauge3 but there must be some Toyota IP restriction on Scangauge publishing the actual code online without some type of offset and internal lookup like they have done with most of the other mode 22 X-gauge items. Seems if someone else reverse engineers and publishes it first they might put it on their websites.

I have just posted an updated list on the link in post #5 with a few new variants and corrections for anyone that is interested

Update: Post also now includes the new Manual DPF Burn code for use on Scangauge and Torque Pro.
