Just having a gander at the Lexus GX un the US Lexus site.........
It would seem the sidesteps are a much better design (look like they would stop the mud buildup on the front)
And I'm sure the rear mud flaps look like a better setup.
Re: Petition Setup for Mudflap Issue - Please Sign
glad i found this thread. i thought the mudflaps looked tiny when I first got the car. on the weekend I hit a 20 metre stretch of dark sticky mud and my concerns of poor protection to panels was founded - as you can see in the photo the dark mud shows exactly where the panels are exposed to dirt, mud, rocks. My 120 series had better guards and suffered from dirt/rocks (on the rear panels particularly) - particularly on 100s of kms of dirt roads around the mines in Mt Isa/Concurry - sand blasted. I can see the 150s paint not lasting very long at all in these sections.
before i saw this thread, I was wondering if there was a mud-guard extension or similar I could make that could be stuck on for these sort of trips.

Funny I rang my local dealer today (grand Toyota in Perth) and asked if they had any fix for the mudflap issue.....what mudflap issue was the answer. They had not heard anything about mudflaps being inadequate on Prados. Damn fools.

Standard line just like the insurance companies...decline claims or continue to state the company line...have not heard about that...now you should email him this info and than have someone else call in and I bet they will continue to say the SAME COMPANY LINE.

Insertion rubber worked well on our Eyre Peninsula trip. These photos were taken after doing a bit of muddy work. Front doesn't have extensions and mud all over the doors. Rear has extensions and nothing onto rear bumper. A good solution until toyota pulls their finger out.

Signed. I contacted Bendigo Toyota and they hadn't heard that there was any issue at all with the mudflaps. I told them to note my concerns. Toyota have replaced the two other issue I had with poor workmanship on the leather seats.
Re: Petition Setup for Mudflap Issue - Please Sign
I noted today (after reading about the concerns with mud flaps) UK spec. Land Rover discoveries do not have any mud flaps at all (according to some reports here in the UK the Discovery has the worst of reliability issues - apparently - but don't quote me.) But they do have 'orrible plastic sills - but it doesn't stop the muck spraying further up the doors or rear bumper........beyond the sill line... and I noted when detailing the car for the first time proper the other week (bought at 10 months old) there is road rash in all the vulnerable points as mentioned. I've used poor boys black hole (car is a base black 150 LC4 - UK spec. - prado word not known in UK - just Land Cruiser) to some effect ... and has at least dulled the marks down. 8)

Hi all,
My first post and a first timer with a 4wd.
I have just come from a weekend away and put a 1000k's on the clock and strongly support the petition. The mud flaps are
no good and they should do somthing about them.

I just did a trip to cape york I put 2 layers of plastic duck tape on the underside of the rear bumper bar it stoped most of the chips but some cut through the tape.
