The first page definitely looks like the 2010 5th Gen. 4-Runner.

    Here is a Spyshot.

EDIT:Link would not work so I screen shot the pic and cropped it.

The second looks a little cheap to be the Prado. It could also be the Toyota Fortuner. It is sold mainly in Asia, Africa and some Latin America markets.

      * Sept 09 release
      * D4D diesel to be carried over, V6 'clean' diesel engine by 2013 (sounds like no change to the D4D power or torque) Not for me then, no more D4D for me.
      * Electronic controlled suspension (I think they mean Kinetic style suspension)
      * Cruise control will be in the steering wheel (about time) Lets hope that it doesn't drop its set speed totally when you go below 40km/hr like the one now does.
      * 2nd row seats to be split 40/20/40 instead of current 60/40 arrangement
      * 3rd row seats will fold down into the floor (bye bye fuel capacity and separate 3rd row seats) Surely they realise their biggest selling point here in Australia is the fuel capacity and range?
      * Overall height lowered by 20mm to 1800mm
      * 8L V16 petrol engine with 13 speed auto transmission (just joking nothing in there about petrol engines)

Given the number of variants Toyota produce around the world it is hard to say whether any or all of these will be adopted for our market. Just have to wait and see.

      • Re: When is the new generation Prado due?

Summary about the new Prado from the article:

        1. Timing
        September 2009 release

        2. Chassis
Same concept as current model. Uses F2 platform.

        3. Body size
Width, length and wheelbase: Same as current model.
Height 20mm lower than current model.

        4. Engines
        Petrol:
        1GR, 4litre, V6
        2TR, 2.7litre, Straight 4
        Diesel:
Only 1KD 3litre, Straight 4 will be offered.
V6 clean diesel engine will be released in 2013.

        5. Suspension
Air suspension will continue to be used for top model (Grande).
Controlled shock absorber AVS might be offered on other models.
KDS (Kinetics Dynamic Suspension system) may be offered.

        6. Seating
2nd row seats: Will change from 60:40 to 40:20:40 separation.
3rd row seats: Will change from side fixing to front fixing with seats folding flat below the floor.

Not much more information that the single page held. If this article is real (I cannot work out where it is from) it shows the replacement for the 120 series to be a facelift rather than an all new model.

So much for the speculation from the other magazine about the Lexus V8 engine being introduced though based on Ben's past comments there isn't much to recommend it other than the number of cylinders. Like Mav I hope somehow the fuel capacity is retained or at least maximised. Not interested in 90 litres of fuel. It needs to have 150 Litre capacity or more. With regards to the 3rd row one of the advantages to us of the present arrangement is being able to keep the fridge on one side and a seat on the other to carry 6, if this new arrangment is the same as the other P word then that flexibility is gone.

The point that concerns me is the '20mm lower' bit - that's so it looks better with the bling 22" alloys ?

If you don't use your vehicle for long range touring/camping trips then the fold away seats are a nice feature (ala people mover) but if you bought a Prado to use as a serious proposition then it's all a bit of a step backwards...honestly, if you're after a lower vehicle with less fuel capacity and fold away seats then isn't there already a vehicle with those features in the Yota line up ? - starts with a K and ends with an R ?

I'm a bit skeptical of all this speculation (even if the sources seem to corroborate each other) - I can't believe Toyota would be that daft...remains to be seen I guess.

Ahem... ops: ...yes, that makes a bit more sense...

Some people here may even be able to fit it in their garage.

I guess if the roofline is 20mm lower that 20mm could be taken away from anywhere in the glass area, the side panels etc - I was assuming it mean't ride height...they would do that to us surely...maybe it's a polite way of saying 'we're not including roof rails as standard'...

I wouldn't get too excited until you see the actual car in the showroom.

Car manufacturers often make minor changes to vehicles to suit various markets - the spare on the back door of the current model is one example. We have one of the last model Mazda MPV's - it has decent 3rd row seats but in some markets it comes with seats that fold into the floor. It's just trim and a different rear floor panel.

Clean V6 Diesel might be interesting if it comes to fruition.

I have just been speaking to a mate who owns a large Toyota dealership in Rural Australia. He last week had the Toyota people thru with all the new release stuff, except they wouldnt allow them to keep anything on next years models. Viewing only.

I have sent him a bunch of pictures and he has confirmed this is the model that was on the genuine Toyota release paperwork.

Be interesting to see how close it actually is!

Same as navara etc, they cut the original bumper bar in half to sit behind the steel bar.

I wouldn't call that all new, looks so close to the current 120 the lights and grill are nearly identical. My 2 cents

I was horrified when I saw the updated version of the 2010 TOYOTA PRADO. It looks like an updated TOYOTA KLUGER soft roader. What are they doing at Toyota. They should stick to the Series 120 Prado shape and change afew areas. Not the whole body shape.

I'll stick to our Series 120 Prado.
