LOL Yes it does get a wee bit hot here Danny , I once left a biro on the dash and it was bent DOUBLE in no time and without a dashmat the dash would probably crack so a must have here............

Do the dash mats with the hard backing chafe the dash at all? Went to autobarn and the Sunland dashmat's plastic backing felt rough as, like the first stage of fiberglassing. can't be good in the long run can it?

How is the dash mat secured to the dash? Is it Velcro tabs or some other way?
D4D. How long will it last?

Velcro tabs - works best the more you use

This how I've gone mounting mine, cut 1cm segments from a roll of self adhesive velcro, wiped any dust off of the dash and then placed dash mat over the dash
making sure that it was all square and then placed down on dash and then applied a little preesue to the velcro and then left it for a hour or so to ensure good adhesion.

A couple of zip ties in the air vents to hold the mat in place does the trick for me. Never have to worry about it moving again.
