Took my zodiac and 8hp engine out the other day in the back of the Prado and on my return home I found, to my disappointment, that the engine had left permanent indentations in the floor over the rear folded seats. Close inspection of the floor material revealed it to be a very light weight and soft material. I am surprised that there is no warning (unless I missed it) in the manual. Clearly I should have used a heavy duty rubber mat however I just used a vinyl sheet as I have done for all the previous cars I have had including my previous Prado.

Would you be able to share the parts number for it? My local dealer doesn't have a clue about it. Thanks a lot.2011 black LC Prado VX

Re: Soft floor material
Compliments of the General Sales Manager at Prosser Toyota, Gosnells, W.A. who never fails to provide me with excellent service.
Toyota list the cargo mat as:
PZQ2060230 ALL WEATHER RUBBER CARGO MAT
All Weather Rubber Cargo Mat
Stylishly designed for your Prado with both practicality and aesthetics in mind, this one piece cargo mat is produced from all natural rubber featuring a high lip design to help protect your interior from dirt, mud and minor liquid spills. The All Weather Rubber Cargo Mat fits neatly into the Prado's rear-compartment.
Available from February 2010 (GX model only).

The Prado is really a Station Sedan, not a work utility. It's easy to forget that the floor is just the backs of folded-down seats.
It's not a HiLux

Re: Soft floor material
Thanks LaoK and Strombleki for your information. One thing I found annoying is there is no space to store the retractable cargo blind when the third-row seats are up. So it is put away in the house and never used. I guess there won't be place to store the cargo mat either, correct?2011 black LC Prado VX

.
The cargo mat stays permanently in the back and will until I need to raise the third row seats (watch out for the luggage/lashing eyes).
.
I am constantly changing the rear with buggy gear, tarpaulin, tool boxes, etc. but most of the time my third row seats are tucked away. I don't have rugrats.

Re: Soft floor material
I do use my third row ocassionally. The cargo blind stays in the shed as there is no place for it when all seats are up. The cargo mat gets rolled up and it does fit behind the seats, but it takes up a lof of room which means then you have NO boot. This means the cargo mat stays in the shed as well, and gets pulled out when I know I will use it.
Unfortunately, you can't prepare for all situations and the backs of my seats have been damaged by heavy items.
While I am at it, I have two child seats in the second row. As I can't fold the second row, it is nearly impossible to pull the seat base of the third row out. I have to climb in the back and reach over and try to pull it up.
Who was the bright spark at Toyota who designed the back of the car?
