By "screen wire" do you mean some sort of sheath like on UHF cable?

I firstly removed the large plastic engine/radiator cover as well and the grill. Both come out very easily. This made for easy access to the camera's plug.
Yeah I know, that bit is easy. Have pulled out the grille more times than I care to remember while trying to install the winch.

Not really like a coax. A screen wire is just an uninsulated wire running alongside the other inner cores of the cable. This camera cable has three (insulated) cores + the (uninsulated) screen wire. There is also a this copper film (cladding) wrapped around all the cores for the entire length of the cable all the way back to the main head-unit. The cladding is similar to Alfoil but made of very thin copper instead. All designed to reduce interference similar to coax.

The term 'shielded' would be the better word to correctly describe this cable. I really should say 'shield wire' instead of 'screen wire'. It's a bad habit of mine.

Hey guys! i just relocated my camera to the front of my ARB Bar. Easy As! I was too caught up in the moment to take pictures during the manufacturing though! however, its basically a piece of "propeller plate" i picked up from bunnings for $15 or so.. the cut to fit in the bar is 32mm x 320. bent in to 5 sections. 40mm - 70mm - (centre) 100mm - 70mm - 40mm. using the original camera bracket mount i then mounted it to the plate using 4 screws. Double nutted so she wont come loose. Cables where easy to extend, i then soldered an extra 300mm of cable to extend the camera wiring. I used 6c 0.75mm2 trailer cable and pulled out 4 cores the same colour as the camera used, then covered in electrical tape and flex conduit. Works a charm, as long as you dont run passed any power cables you wont need to shield it... oh to get the correct shape of the camera, i used masking tape and placed it as straight as i could across the hole and cut out the centre, then placed it on to the plate where i needed to mark the hole, used a 25mm hole saw to start then a burr grinder to get the final result.

The only downfall i found is i still see a bit of the bar in the sides of the image, so i would say the sides of the plate instead of 70mm make it about 80 just to get it forward a little more.. i kept it back from being completely out of the bar as i have a tendency to bump stuff .. just because i can..... -.-

                Camera in Bull bar

                Hi
i moved my camera quite a while a go and placed in the middle of the ARB bar top above the winch opening (5). drilled a hole and then used the camera rear mounting holes to place two M6 long bolts with double nutts, ( when you drill the hole you will notice that at the internal of that section is a steel strenghtner i used the bolt back the front to push tension on to the camera from the in side, this in tern holds the camera in place) threded part in to the brackett (1) and the nut part pushing on to the rear of the steel bar internal.
camera has been in place for 4 odd years now and not moved.
Extended the wiring by about 250mm ish,
i then used the old camera spot to place my isolation switch for the winch, out of the way, then got a rubber gromit to fit in the hole and protect the switch.

Sorry, can I ask a really dumb question ....

Why can't you just change the camera for a new one and make an extension lead? Is there some sort of processing going on in the camera itself, or is it just pumping the video feed?

Do we know if it is an NTSC or PAL signal?

And finally, is there some reason to mask off across the top? I find the whole image rather distracting, or is the intent to stop the sun getting into the top of the fish-eye?

                  Thanks .....
