I have the Gibson Tru Body bracket and the top of the spring is equal to or just under the standard height of the roof rails. This photo was taken in 2009 from the rear and slightly lower which makes the antenna spring look a little higher but it is not in reality.

I picked up my new 150 about a month ago and fitted ferrite beads to the injector leads. I also fitted a braid across the read door hinge, dropped this down to the pick up the body then a hose clamp onto the exhaust clamp. I ran a 25mm cable from the aux battery (through a breaker) and kept all the codan cables under my storage system with a fuse box where I then fed power to my other radios and fridge. I found this significantly reduced the injector noise. Will take some photos and post these next week when I am off night work.

Thanks Andy, I went into Gibson Tru Body and spoke to Scott today. They currently have a special on hot dip galvanised brackets to suit the Prado 150. It looked like they only had a dozen left so I grabbed one and asked them to powder coat one black for me. Scott told me he could do a better deal for bulk buys but I need to get it fitted before I go away in two weeks. With the Codan antenna fitted (not the whip) it is just below the height of the roof rails. Will post a photo when I get it fitted.

Nifty, I have the same bracket but haven't fitted it yet.
I'd be interested to hear how and where you run the cables through the vehicle.

Andy, I did not like the Kaymar rear wheel carrier because you need to remove the antenna. That means undoing the coax, control cable and earth braid before you can get to your spare. I fitted the Gibson Tru Body bracket which fits behind the wheel. The top of the antenna is just below the roof rail (with spring fitted to antenna) so you wont damage anything. Just watch it with the whip fitted because it is rather high. I have been to the Cape, double dessert crossing, three corners trip, single desert run, lake Eyre trip, ocean road run and a month in Tassy. Then there is the Blue Mountains and just about every road in NSW, QLD and NT. It's been to WA twice. I travel to Cairns every six months and always take on a trip somewhere every March. I am off to Ayres Rock then heading west this winter. The Codan and bracket have never let me down.

Dreamer2, I ran the coax and antenna control cable through the same hole as the reversing camera (used a bit of soap to make it easier to run), through the grommet in the door hinge and to the radio which I mounted in my storage system. I cut the control cable connector off at the radio end and resoldered it keeping the same colour coding. Simply solder one wire at a time and take a photo to be double sure you don't have a mix up. Don't cut the control connector at the aerial end because they are a mounded plug and you will be in a world of hurt.

Alexr, I got rid of the majority of the injector noise by doing basically three things:
          (1) fitted ferrite beads on the electrical cables near the injectors and also at the engine controllers
          (2) fitting a 20mm braid from the antenna, bolted to the antenna bracket. Then I ran another braid across the bottom rear door hinge and ran it down to the chassis and to the exhaust pipe bracket
          (3) ran the DC power directly to the aux battery

I ran the mic cable under the carpet to the centre console and up the passenger side. I still have plenty of length for operating from both front seats.

I find the radio is almost injector noise free at VKS 8meg and seems to peak on the 14Meg freq but this is still useable when mobile.

If you need photo's let me know and I will post some. Refer to previous posts for the fitting of the bracket and antenna to the rear door.

On a side note Gibson Tru Body are currently running a special on some hot dip gal antenna brackets. Not sure how many were left. They had about 10 when I grabbed a new one last week. I have had their brackets on my Prado and my brother also has one. We have been using the Gibson brackets for more than six years and have never had a problem. They are solid and simple to fit.

Could you please advise what sort of ferrite beads did you use and where did you place them.

            Thanks,

Sweetpea, I went into Jaycar and pickup up some that clip together. I don't remember the part numbers as I got them some 5 years ago and transferred them to the new 150. I can post a picture if that would assist. Nifty

                    Hi Nifty

Thanks for replying but just one more question.

There are three pictured on the Jaycar page. Can you be specific as to which one you used.

I used the first one and it seemed to make no difference at all.
