You can buy a 1/2 male to 1/2 female brass fitting from bunnings to space it out. I've got a tee installed for my pump so my tap sits out further than yours. http://www.bunnings.com.au/brass-thr...50116_p4700203
Otherwise use some plumbers tape to get a good seal and give it some resistance to stop it moving.

I noticed you chose not to extend the breathers up any higher. With a full tank the water might leak out a bit if you are on an angle.

Did you notice the little red bit of plastic. It was meant to go inside the water level tube to make it easier to see the level.

Good to see the tank installed. Hope you get good use of it.

I was going to fit a Wynnum tow bar fitted in the next week but now after seeing this tank I might go back to plan A and fit the Toyota bar so I can put a tank in. Looks really good

All good ideas... and I have no idea where the red plastic went... crap.

I did wrap the tap with plumbers tape, I probably need to do a few more wraps to get it tighter, but it was water tight.

Thanks again mate, I'll let you know what my discoveries are.

Instructions for fitting Tin’s water tank.
          1. Unbolt the 2 plastic pieces from behind the tow bar, you will have to remove the cover where the tow bar goes through the bumper bar to access the middle bolts. The tank hangs from the outside bolts that the plastic pieces were bolted too. At this stage make sure any wiring for trailer plugs, air bags etc is out of the road or has plenty of slack to allow for fitting of the tank.
          2. Bolt the mounting brackets to the tank, they hang down and outwards, don’t tighten until in position, you need a little bit of wiggle room when fitting the tank. Fit the hose fittings for the level indicator and breathers.
          3. I found it easier to remove the tow bar mounting bolts on one side, so you could slide the mount for one side over the bolts, push the tank up into position and the fit the bolts for the other side. Wiggle the tank around until you are happy with the position and then tighten all mounting bolts.
          4. Run and connect the pipe work for the breathers, filler and outlet. I already had a small water tank fitted, so I just rerouted the pipes. I joined the two breathers together and just had a single breather pipe. I had a larger 1 inch outlet fitted to my tank, so I used this as a combined filler and outlet.

Once when I filling the water tank in the front yard, some body walking down the street wanted to know how well the car ran on water. Some others think it is for gas tank filling.

Just letting everyone know I got a tank off Tin last week. Fitted it up with no dramas, straight bolt up job looks mint and there is simply no room for improvement very happy.

Thanks for the kind words. I trust it will come in handy the next time you are on the beach.
I still have a couple left from the last batch if anyone else wants one.

Has anyone done a lot of kms or been off road yet with their tank fitted, any problems?

I have done three or four full day off road trips with no issues at all, clearance is not an problem as it sit up neatly between the sub tank and tow bar. Also have done the syd to adel still sitting in nicely no rattles or noises. All good!!

I can reply on Tin's behalf, it won't fit. We had a look with mine and the kaymar has bracing right where the tank sits. When you find something that fits let me know.

Sorry, it won't fit with a kaymar rear bar.

I've had my tank installed since February. I've done 14,000 km. I've been on 3 or 4 off road day trips, a few days on Moreton and up to Fraser with the camper trailer for 4 days. My tank is always at least half full. I had a good look at it a couple of weeks ago and it looks fine.
