Could these be made lighter? Maybe lighter gauge steel? a question concerning the fitting of the shock guard for those who have already fitted them, did you raise the vehicle of the ground so that the suspension had no load on it?,my concern is stored energy with the shock when I go to unbolt the bottom mounting bolt to fit the guards as I don't want risk being taken out by the shock when I start fitting the guards.

Left mine on the ground as well, just remove the bolt that holds the washer in place, it is not actually holding the shock, the shock is on a metal rod, that the bolt threads into. There isn't even any need to remove the wheels to fit them.2015 GX Prado 3L Auto, in the process of being fitted out.
