  • 150 rear drawers

I had an email from UV 4x4 in Brisbane tonight stating that they had drawers for a 150, indicated that if you had 120 draws then they will fit with a different mounting kit.

    Re: 150 rear drawers

I did not want to remove the seats as the space gained v/s the work to try get a decent finish on the trim and floor did not seem worth it.

I made some enquiries for a wedge design drawer system to level the floor out but was quoted $1400.00 + freight and decided to make my own. Cost $400.00

The weight of the drawers, fridge and recovery gear has also leveled out the suspension nicely.

Here are the photo's, I am just waiting on the stainless steel latches to arrive so I can finish them off.

Great job ABR Sidewinder. Just wondering how you secured the draws on top of the rear seats.

I removed the 4 tie down points and made spacer bushes to the same height as the carpet, then bolted down into the same holes again with HT bolts and large washers. The drawer system is then bolted to the cargo barrier and the barrier is bolted down to the floor.

                  Re: 150 rear drawers

I decided I would use a shelf to regain the 120mm lost to the seats.

Found the most cost effective solution to be IKEA $70.00 8)

This now gives me space for chairs and other light gear, the frame is 30x20 square tube and the shelf is weld-mesh. I finished off the front with 17mm ply covered in carpet.

                    Re: 150 rear drawers

ABR Sidewinder, I see you have Rhino Racks attached to the factory rails. Do you know if they are the same racks from the 120 Series. I have got a set of the sportz racks (i.e. the aerodynamic version) that fit to the factory rails on my 120 and was going to put them on the new vehicle in March (if they fit). The feet for my rack clamp to the rails and don't fit into the groove along the inside of the rail. I have read that the distance between the rails is slightly bigger on the newer model so it may be that I can use the same feet but get new rack bars. Thanks.

Yes same kit fits both the 120 and 150 series.

My 150 series is 100cm between the rails.

                      Regards

                          Re: 150 rear drawers

To free up some space in the drawers I decided to use the small space on the side of the fridge to mount the air compressor.

It is now easy to use and I just keep the air hose in the drawer.

                            Re: 150 rear drawers

                            Hi everyone
This is my my first post and I didn't want to come to the party empty handed. I have been reading this forum for quite a few months now waiting for my 150 GXL to arrive. I picked it up last Tuesday after waiting since December. I have always been involved with modified street machines and this is my first real time modifing 4x4's and first time on any forums (so sorry if my forum etiquette isn't right). Found this though and had to be part of it!!! I had a old series 3 landy years ago I took over Moreton Island a few times a year and loved every minute of it. Its good to be able to get back into it again.

I have spent the last few weeks building these draws to fit in the back. As you can see I have removed the rear seats to get max height in the back. The whole thing is bent up from 1.6mm zinc plate and running on bearings then carpeted all over. Yes I'm aware that one of the drawers the carpet seems a differnt shade!!!! I glued the carpet on upside down so the grain was running the oppisite direction and now looks different. I am thinking of pulling it off and redoing it. I have heaps more photos and the sheetmetal cutting list if anyone is interested.

I'm pretty happy with it so far but only the beginning for this prado as we have already planned a trip to the cape in June.

                            Once again, loving this site!!!

                              lissted,

Those drawers look very professional. You've done a fantastic job.
Was wondering if you had a better pic of the whole rear cargo area from top to bottom, just to see how much room you have in the back.
I've been waiting to see how rear drawers would look with the rear seats removed and no plastic trim across the bottom of the cargo area.
Do you have any plans to cover up the left and right bottom corners where the trim would clip in?

                              Keep the 150 mods coming.

                              Cheers
