    Hi Toopy,

    Great progress.

No the ECO/Sport Mode switch doesn't have illumination for individual functions, only backlighting when the dash lights are on and these are powered from the Pin 1 & 10 you already identified. These should connect to G303 with the ILLUM+ available on Pin 1 and 7 and ILLUM- on Pin 6 and 12.

From what I can make out G303 Pin 1 to 7, 12, 13 & 18 appear to be the 1.5 type and all the others are the 0.64II versions.

Edit: Toopy the info I have says that Pins 2, 8, 9 & 11 are unused so not certain why there are wires on the 8 & 9 that you have been searching for. Only thing I can think of is the ECO/Sport switch position was also used as by a different suspension control switch in earlier models overseas so could go to the KDSS ECU slot but be unused by the current version.

There are a few vendors on AliExpress selling various Toyota connectors and pins/sockets (see HC-Connector Store and Jun Rui Auto Parts Store as a start point) and from the research I did Toyota seems to be sourcing/basing the design of many of them on the TE Connectivity Automotive Connector range but there is no cross reference that I could find for cross matching the Toyota and TE Part Numbers so you have to do this manually.

When you looked for the Crawl/MTS connector were you looking for a separate one tucked up. As its not and already connected to the 2nd Start/VSC Off/Centre Diff Lock combination switch or is this different on the GX/GXL as well?.

    Cheers Phil

Excellent thanks for those links, that makes things a lot cheaper as those 1.5 fly leads were $8 each, so added up quickly. The connector crimp terminals are like $6.50 shipped for a pack of 10 @ the HC-Connector store.

Did you ever figure out what pins 2/8 were for on the eco/sport connector? I wish Toyota wiring diagrams were complete instead of by system.

Yes I looked for the extra MTS/CC cable/connector and it's not there that I can see. So to add it to the GXL will require that to be wired.
Unless its tucked right up behind the headunit (going to upgrade that once it arrives so I will double check then)

      So BOM now is
      1x Toyota 84711-60030 - SWITCH, ECO MODE ECO/Sport switch
      6x 82998-12870 Female crimp connector/terminal 0.64
      3x 82998–24350 Female crimp connector/terminal 1.5
      1 length 3 core 20-22 AWG ~2m
2x crimp tap connectors. (to piggy back illumination @ G303)

Toyota parts now are @$110 for the eco switch. $13 for the connector pins.

        Hi Toopy,

I'm confused what do they use for the 2nd Start , VSC Off & Centre Diff Lock switches on the GXL.

Are these in a single combination switch unit and connector like the VX or individual switches and connectors?

Edit: I found the wiring diagram with pins 8 & 9 and its connected with the Sport Comfort setting on the Air suspension not KDSS. Open the wiring diagrams and go to Electronic Modulated Air Suspension (RHD). Its in the middle and connects to TSW1 and TSW2 on the ECU but as I said it is probably for a different dedicated Comfort / Sport suspension switch and on ours it uses the ECO and Sport switch contacts and changes these settings via CAN message from the Engine ECU.

          Hi mate,

Sorry, I was confused about which connector it was. I though it was a separate connector. I will admit I didn't look into it in detail as I was working on te eco/sport mode first.
Yes the GXL uses the same connector as the VX, the pins/wiring is the same as the eco though, missing.
So I would need to jerry rig a box to ensure the programming is it the ecu, I have TS so activating shouldn't be a problem.

            OK that makes sense now.

So your next issue on the MTS/CC upgrade front is what revision Skid Control ECU do you have as this may affect whether you can just run the missing wires, or also need to upgrade to a different revision (which could get expensive).

So I'd have to say it would be
              • 4721760710 from Aug 17 - Jun 18,
is the ECU revision labelled on the unit, or is that a TS job?

As CC/MTS was available on Kakadu for my year, one would think it would be physically compatible.
Were is the MTS initialization in the manual, looks like the switch shorts pin - Brake Actuator Assembly A7 Pin 29 (EXI4) to earth, maybe its as simple as that to check if it activates.

The ECU revision number is printed on the side of the black housing on the engine side of the hydraulic brake actuator which is mounted on the driver side firewall of the vehicle. There should be a 89541-XXXXX (mine is 89541-60A33) revision number then a barcode underneath. Takes a bit to get a clear view of it so I used my phone with flash on.

Not certain if the MTS program becomes accessible until you switch from Downhill Assist to Crawl Control mode on the Skid Control ECU using the procedure in the manual. Before I made the test box I did what you said from the switch end without changing to CC mode and it did nothing.

                  yours is a 6xxxxxxxxxx?

                  Mine is 89541-60A30

Anyway I've ordered the required parts for the sport/eco switch and put my dash back together. No more sport mode for me for a month or so .
That kind of shit really urks me, oh your device/car/etc can do this, but we disabled it. With no option to access it either.
For the small amount of driving I did the transmission just seemed so much more responsive in sport than stock.
Do you have larger size tyres fitted? Or the torque converter unlocking in 6th on the highway on you. I'm wondering if it helps (in any mode).

                    Hi Toopy,

Sorry yes that should have started with 8 not 6

No I have stayed at stock tyre size as I don't see any advantage in my vehicle use case for going any larger and even going up one size given how tall the 6th gear overdrive is already will potentially cause issues with lock up. I did keep my original 19s for around town and bought a second set of GXL 17s for when touring or towing the caravan.

Mine is fine most of the time except when you get head winds and/or towing when it may take time to engage or will hold locked 5th instead. Again this makes sense as 6th is really a highway cruise gear when the vehicle is not heavily loaded to save fuel.

Will be interesting to see, can you tell me where the procedure is in the manual to switch from DAC to CC. I can't locate it

Its in under Brakes / VEHICLE BRAKE / DYNAMICS CONTROL SYSTEMS / STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (for models with hydraulic brake booster) / CALIBRATION

Edit: Also have a look in same area for THE PROCEDURE FOR CONDUCTING ACTIVE DIAGNOSTICS as this has the signal check procedure for confirming the MTS/CC switches are connected and operating correctly.

Thanks, I was looking at that section but was looking for MTS calibration.

when you tried to activate either cc or mts by just shorting the corresponding pins to earth, did you have the rest of the components in their correct settings for activation?

Reading the manual, CC will not activate unless the transfer is in L4 and the shift leaver is in any gear other than P or N and the drivers door closed.

MTS requires L4 and TC/VSC off.

Just trying to gauge a quick way to test,

                          Also looking at this link,
                          https://www.drive2.ru/l/606275660431781909/

He states he presses DAC on the MTS/CC panel and then gets everything to work fine. I can see it in the wiring diag, but which button is he actually pressing on the panel? (Know its machine translated in from russian)

                            Hi Toopy,

Yes I had it in the right preconditions for MTS but didn't do the memory reset/CC calibration as I was trying to see if the MTS was already activated or not as the guy in Russia set up in CC mode and then went back to Downhill Assist mode and MTS kept working so there was some suggestion that its already active just no switch (but from my test no its not but probably toggles on with the CC activation).

This video is of the Russian guy doing the CC/MTS activation using Techstream but he is doing it on a pre 2017 that he is upgrading with 2017+ features Multi Terrain Select установка на Toyota Prado 150 - YouTube If you are on a computer set captions on and set the auto-translate to English so you can get some idea of what he is talking about.

The switch diagram you posted is a bit deceiving as it like many of the wiring diagrams shows all the variation of the Combination panel on one overlay.

I have seen a pic of a single dial version of the combination panel which has the same switches as our lower panel including DAC but no Air Susp, MTS or CC. In the 330 Combination Panel the DAC connector is put in a dummy socket on the rear and is not connected to anything.

I think when he did the switch back and got DAC and MTS working he just plugged his old switch into its original connector and probably just hid it in behind the panel until he sorted the CC/MTS side out with the KDSS ECU Install later on.

Do you get the D-SEAT SW ECU on your list when connected to Techstream? ( I can't see it on mine but it is listed on the Combination Switch Data List area as where you can see the status of the CC/MTS switches. The manuals we are using only cover up to the Jul 2020 configuration so not certain if that's my issue)

The other area that I did find with one of the CC switch functions is on the ABS/VSC/TRC Data List (MID is the no connection setting on the 5 position switch) so may be interesting to see if you are also getting this as it shows that the Skid ECU program does have Crawl Functionality.

                            ''''
                            RL Wheel Direction Forward
                            Stop Switch History WITHOUT
                            Stop Light Relay Output OFF
                            Crawl Control Switch MID
FR Wheel ABS Ctrl Status OFF
FL Wheel ABS Ctrl Status OFF
                            ''''

The only way for you to simply test given you don't have all the wiring installed yet is to get two sockets and connect to the skid control A7 connector Pin 29 (MTS Sw) & 43 (Crawl Sw) and run back to cabin and connect a third wire to a ground point. You should be able to do the CC Activation process in the Calibration procedure and connect the 43 wire to the ground at the CC Switch step/s. Then when you turn the test mode off do the L4 etc prerequisites and momentarily short the wires again and the dash should go to crawl mode in the MID setting. Same for MTS but it will go to Mogul Setting. You will need to momentarily re-short the wires to toggle the modes back off. In my box I use a 3 way centre off momentary switch to make these connections push and release one way for CC and the other for MTS.

When your finished remove the wires and reset everything back to DAC mode by redoing the Calibration DAC switch version.

Damn I was hoping to possibly just get some indication it would function without going through the calibration process, not that it looks to hard.
Looks like I will be delving into this. I will check TS tomorrow for those indications. It's been a while since I used it so can't remember.

I was looking at the wiring route diagrams and GA6 is in the drivers side kick panel, so with any luck all the wiring from there to A7 on the SkidECU in the engine bay is complete.
Then it's only internal wring in the cab that needs to be completed, I will check this tomorrow as well.
Will probably need you to check some pin sizes or explain/show me where you get those from.
                              20 Green (G) FRE (MTS ON/OFF SW) GA6 Pin 34 - Brake Actuator Assembly A7 Pin 29 (EXI4)
21 Sky Blue (SB) FRB (CRAWL ON/OFF SW) GA6 Pin 33 - Brake Actuator Assembly A7 Pin 43 (TRS)

The dash shows the same clinometer when in L4 as the MTS, so I would be surprised if the full program isn't in the Skid ECU. Just a matter of accessing it.

                                Hi Toopy,

I'm using the Toyota manual RM06H0E as the guide to connectors etc (there are a couple of sites online that have PDF copies that you can download).

What I found out was that the harness connector for the Skid Control ECU A7 is a 90980-12297 which has 42 x 0.64 and 6 x 4.8 sealed type female sockets. The part number you need to look up on HC-Connector Store for the pack of 10x pins/sockets and seals is 82998-24250 which is the same number as the Toyota 0.64 sealed connector repair wire.

Layout of A7 from the front (or rear of harness connector)

I did see one article or video (not certain if it was the Russian guys or one of the US Lexus guys) where they found that the crawl control wires were not in the A7 connector so I would start that end rather that at GA6 ( The harness connect rear cover is clipped on so should be easy to remove to check).
