Winston this has been fixed. Latest revision was last week. Voltage pull down on the prado was Toyota supplying JUST enough current and voltage for starting. When battery is a little tired and other accessories are on even glow plugs, Factory EUC would struggle when an extra demand for volage was made at the rail. Under 4.8 volts and she no start mate. If someone had a good cranking battery or second battery helping the first it was not an issue.. Now we source both 5volts and 12volts to overcome this.

Send it back to me and I'll return all fixed. This goes for anyone that has start issue with our Chip. The SB Chip we do does not have this issue BTW ... never did. But this has been fixed either way.

Interesting that you say SB are the pick of them. Have you tried our Chip?

Also, we have SB style Chips as well. I can do better prices too.

Also, just so you know, You can never get the power from injector chip as u can from rail chip. Far from it in fact.

However, if you wish to have a chat our Injector Chip please give me a call.

We have done afew of these on the 150, and they improve down low throttle responsivness, and make the vehicle nicer to drive.

The Steinbauer is the pick of them with inbuilt safety feature.

We also find the performance charts are underated generally for the improvement, from them.

I Have been looking at exhaust and chips and I have come up with the two I am interested in. manta or beaudesert 3 " and SB or chip it. what are your thoughts as I am having a hard time to choose. also stainless of alumin. steel?

Have installed the Chip It about 2 months ago and I am very impressed with the increase in performance and improved economy. I tow a Complete Campsite trailer and loaded is about 1600kg. The Prado flies up Mount White at 110 no worries. The click in harness is easy however the EGR blank does need a bit of dexterity and long 1/4 drive extension and socket. Also if you take out the intercooler aluminium tube there is more room and better vision. Good also to check for oil in the tube. To save hassles I take out the chip and click in harness when it goes to the dealer for service. Robert at Chip It was great with advice and service. There was a small issue early on with a wire pulling out of the chip plug, easy fix just change the routing and added a zip tie. I like the bypass plug so you can decativate the chip if ther eis any trouble and revert to standard. Also the exhaust limiter is an great idea, I have not even got close to the limit with the #5 tune which is default standard.
I have not fitted an exhaust yet but will research the one from Chip It versus Beau Desert.

I know a few people that have fitted the SB chip and have been delighted with the results. Their warranty is a national one with dealers in most places. Everyone that I have spoken to in the 4WD industry recommend the SB chip. From the extensive advice that I have got is that the chip it has its problems and they are always working on improving something which means the product has always had problems. I spoke to a dealer who sells the chip it in Queensland and he just got so sick of all the returns from customers, his advice was buy a SB chip. SB is a Great chip, national coverage re: warranty, Diesel machanics that I have spoken to would only ever fit SB chips.

LOL. "Everyone you have spoken too" ... sounds like you did a national poll!

Just so you are in the loop FROM THE HORSES MOUTH ... not hearsay ... the start issues with ONLY the PRADO and 70 Series has been corrected outback.

As people on here state, those that ACTUALLY had used the Chip It brand ... not just hearsay ... the Chip works well. For those that had issues (a small number) the Chip was swapped out.

However, that was before. Now there is no issue.

It gets better power, is cheaper and has ACTIVE EGT Control to safe guard the engine. You can take that to the bank.

Speak to those that ARE customers ... they are very happy

... both with the product and the service.

Also, you are supporting an Aussie company ... not an European one

I agree Bassett it is meant to be a steinbauer thread......We already had chip it insulting diesel fitters, now my ability to do research. I find chip it response to criticism rude. If Chip it feels their product better just state the facts and let we the members make up our own minds. And enough of the snide comments. Oh, by the way I did read your last post re: the differences in your chip with Steinbaur and thank you I will take that on board and continue my research. But enough already!!!

How much is the Steinbauer by the way?

I think they retail for around $1490. Some places will even include fitting in that price.
