      Hi gxl_d4d

The kings are only a linear rate rear spring.
I think only Dobinson do a Progressive rate & they only have 1 listed. Not sure on the rates of it though.

I'm about to order some springs for my 150, can anyone comment what we be most suitable?

Its a 150 GX, TJM steel bar, winch at some point, rear is rarely loaded. Want enough lift to be comfortable with 265/70-17. Shocks will be Bilstein.

        Was thinking:
        KTFR-101HC / KTRR-102H

The Kings are a good choice for matching up to the Bilsteins. If the rear is rarely loaded as you say, then the 101HC/102H's should be perfect...

Sounds spot on to me, regards, Jason

I contacted Kings directly last Friday and asked about these comfort springs and was almost laughed at, the gentleman said that they do not exist, I didn't ask about tapered coils and he didn't mention them so maybe it could just be different terminology.

              Grant.

Do you have specs for these springs? Length and spring rate?

Hi guys. The KTFR-101HC is not an extra high spring. it is a comfort spring that will raise the vehicle approx. the same as the KTFR-101 It is 10mm longer in it's free length over the 101, but is only 585lb instead of 660lb. It would work well in a raised application with no accessories fitted to the car. AMTS, I am awaiting specs on the Tapered springs & will let you know asap. Regards, Jason.

Funny how you here different stories. I was told the HC was to give back the little bit of lift you loose when you have a bullbar without going to the harsher heavy duty ride.anyway when I changed to HC I gained another 10 or so mm and ride is smooth. That's enough real word stuff for me.

                    Cheers

On advice from here and Kings themselves I ordered Kings 101H and 102H, however I am lead to believe there is no 'H' for the rear so have been provided with 102HD. Comparing spring rates with standard I think this is a mistake, HD will be too heavy for a mostly unloaded rear, and am also concerned the H wont be enough for the front with a steel bar and steel side steps.

Can anyone offer any comment from experience?

                      Cheers,

Spoke with Kings again today, very helpful resource actually. They agree that the HD will probably be too heavy, but as car is already apart i'm going to put them in. Have ordered the KTRR-102 springs so will swap out and compare in a couple of days.

I've just fitted out my new 150 this week and as I have some distant kin down at Kings springs I thought I'd take the opportunity to clear up the confusion. I'll attach the catalogue edit as well to help.

                          1) Kings has a progressive rear spring. The code is KTPR-102. Note it's in the raised section in the cat. It's nominal 45mm lift.

                          2) The new 'comfort taper' front springs are codes KTFR-101T (45mm) and KTFR-101HT (didn't check height). These are progressive springs based around a tapered wire design. They are designed to maintain comfort over a wider load range. Note there is no -HC.

Kings have also just finished some work with KYB and now have Scorched 4's valved specifically to match the Kings range. I have the first set fitted on the 150 and after some test drives the staff are pretty happy with themselves. Seems fair too based on only a highway drive back to Bris and some running around town. Someone earlier mentioned "flat through cornering and removal of the wallowing". I couldn't describe it better really. I really didn't like the stock setup. Overshocked and undersprung particularly in the front. It feels balanced all around now.

I had the progressive rear Kings on my previous vehicle and it worked well for me towing a camper with about 180kg downforce on the tow bar and a medium load and 3 kids in the back. It sat nice and level and coped with the Telegraph track without issue. I don't have a bar or dual battery in the front so the standard raised front spring was a firm but not harsh ride. I think the tapered comfort spring will be ideal for me.

Heights for me before and after - centre hub to wheel arch (brand new vehicle, tow bar and no other extras):

                          Front 530mm - 570mm
                          Rear 545mm - 585mm

                          Hope this helps

                            Hi Dingle,

I took the plunge and changed over from OME 50mm lift and went for the KTFR-101T and KTPR-102, I couldn't justify the cost for reduced rate OME springs (nearly double the cost of the Kings), My car is sitting about 560-565 front and 585 rear which sees the back marginally higher than the front. I have to agree it's a nice ride. Im carrying a second battery and smart bar in the front.

So I am looking to do the Scorched4 and kings.
I have alloy bar, will be going a winch and dual batteries soon. Have 4 kids, our stuff and sometimes a heavy 6x4 trailer. Will be running a roof basket at some point.
Can anyone confirm or disagree on correct springs for me?
Fronts I am looking at KTFR-101HT(HD?) and rears will be KTPR-102, does this sound right?
                                TIA for any help guys.
