I'd be removing everything and returning it via consumer affairs. You have a strong case if everything is as you state.

It sure is mate, nothing to hide here and I have taken care to keep everything fact based that can be backed up with emails etc. if required... This way there is no re-course on me for defemation of character or anything like that, just in case... You'd have to be iether very brave or very stupid to hit a public forum like this with a load of rubbish as it wouldnt take long before you got smoked out I'd say.
bottom line is essentially the money I now spend on two sets of springs from dobinsons to get me sorted is far cheaper than the cost and time of sending it all back and starting over...
And I think my point about coming onto a forum like this with statements\claims etc. has been proven - and little lesson Cal himself learnt here just a week or two ago on the Cal\Bilstien vs. Superior\Amada thred :-)
I have to say mate, this sort of thing shits me. You want to spend money, and you want to get a product. But sometimes you just can't find a place to give you anything resembling service.

+1 here
outcome looked good for awhile
sorry to hear where you at now mate
Somehow I have a bad feel about the ongoing rant ... it goes too far
Just forked out $240 (40 for same day dellivery) for a set of front springs from Dobinsons and installed them this evening - Car is now sitting at a cool 825ish at the front.... Exactly where it should be.... And guess what, I asked for a medium spring for a car that has no weight on the front and they sent me the right thing first time round....
Cal sent me three sets of front springs - the third set for a Prado with Bar, winch, batteries etc. and they now sitting in my garage ready for sale...
So I think the rant is well and truly justified.
Now I just need to take the rear springs out, take some messurements, probably another $200 later with Donbinson and I'll have the rear sorted as well with another set of coils to get rid of.

Hey Zero,
What was the part number for the springs you ended up getting from Dobinsons?
What happens if you need to replace something under warranty? What if a shock leaks, like Brillstein's do? You're up for more $ as Cal won't be coming to the party. Continuing to use the supplied equipment would be seen as an admission of it being of acceptable and merchantable quality. Therefore some might say Cal have no case to answer other than poor customer service.

Mmm.......getting something repaired or replaced under warranty?
Go direct to Bilstein Sydney that's probably where Cal would send them.
At least you got an invoice I presume, after two emails requesting one and a phone conversation..... NOTHING.
Yip, warranty is a bummer as I certanly won't be going back to Cal... Guess If I do have any issues with the Shocks or Struts I'll simply deal directly with Bilstien as I have done already and they seemed to be quite happy to assist, same for Dobinsons. Shared my experiance with them and to say they are dissapointed that thier products are involved in this would be an understatement.
UPDATE: After a little more research I have found on another forum that the rear shocks (Bilstien) come in two variants.
1. a variant that is more suited and tested for Aus conditions
2. a less suited to Aus conditions variant supplied\sourced from the USA
The tell tale between the two is that the better version (1) has a press fit lower bush that lasts longer etc. - the less desireable version (2) has a split hour glass type lower bush. Also version (1) apparently is also suppied with a stone gaurd.
Guess what version came with my kit from CalOffroad ?
Answer: (2)
Does anyone know if the stone guards for the rear shocks can be bought seperatly?
Hi Zero, i used to have an enormous section up on this before my shopfront was removed from here for reasons unknown.
There are even 2 different types of U.S Bilsteins.
One is way too soft for aus conditions & the other one is worse.
One has a crimped over end & is not rebuildable at all.
Sorry Zero, forgot to mention, the stone Guards are available separately for around $44.00 a pair.
Old man emu one's from ARB are really nice too for around $50.00
As long as you persist with Cal stuff and not pursue a legal avenue they win.
I would go all out on them on principal alone!!
That would be more productive than an internet campaign.
Also would show previous problems for the next guy they burn when he has to go down the same path.
