  • Which 50mm lift? OME? Adjustable?

    Hi all
Next mod on the list is a 50 mm lift. I was going straight for the OME. For what it is, not particularly cheap at around $1700-1800 installed, but happy to pay for the reputation. Also like the fact it is a true 50 mm lift. I've read that some are not
Drooled over the OME remote reservoir/adjustable setup, but don't have ~$3700 to spend and it might be a bit of overkill.

AFN bullbar is going on very soon and dual battery and winch are likely in future. Should I bother going adjustable or upgrade later?
I don't tow a trailer/camper, so the heaviest load would generally be a full load of camping gear.

I realise it'll be a firmer ride, but want to keep it comfortable on road.

So should I go with the OME setup, or look at something else?

    Thanks

I am having a similar conundrum at present - OME is/was high on the list, however I am a bit reluctant due to a previous experience in my PB Challenger. I found it quite harsh over corrugations particularly in the rear (medium springs), and over 5 years it sagged around 20mm.

I have looked at a few other lifts after reading the many threads on this forum and have spoken to the likes of Zordo who seems to really know his stuff. I am now more or less committed to getting the Bilstein/Dobinson combo which will get 50mm+. I also like the fact that Bilstein struts have adj. height, where as the OME does not, according to ARB they use packers to level the vehicle.

I'd suggest spending some time reviewing the various suspension threads on here and as you appear to be in QLD give John (Zordo) a call.

    LSki.

I had the OME in my 150 lifted over 90mm both ends I thought it was a great setup and had no complaints whatsoever over 100,000k's and I carried plenty of weight and did a load of towing

I just had mine done by ARB and cost me less than $1000 installed.

Best Price I could get from ARB for the 50mm lift was $1875 incl. fitting and alignment...

It was something like $1830 with stone guards and alignment

$1000? Almost worth fuelling up and heading over to WA haha
That's surprising - thought things were more expensive over there

Zordo did my d22 and I was very happy with it
He is a great guy to deal with - very knowledgeable and will answer any questions in great detail
I was originally thinking of going to him again and it could still happen

What was the bilstein/dobinson combo worth installed approx?

With an alignment (from elsewhere) it worked out very close to the OME installed price.

The list price is $850.00 for the 2 struts and shocks - that is NO springs and NO installation...

                  Tell us more Broughman!!

Sorry just double checked. Paid about $1300. Forgot some of the items as was down the bottom of quote. Was done at same time as bullbar and other bits, but should still possible to get negotiated down that direction.

Looking at doing same lift in next 6 months. I have been talking to fulcrum at yeerongapilly and they suggested Bilstien and king springs in the progressive rate to keep a nice ride but still able to take weight also i will put airbags in the rear. Price was around 1800 fitted not inc air bags
