  • Bilstein/King vs OME/King

    Hi

    Sort of crossing over a few threads that already exist. I have a small question I need some feedback on, from people that have the same arrangements. Looking a dropping out all my shocks and fitting OME Sports, reusing my rear OME 896 and front Medium Kings. Or, the next option is leave rear springs in, fit Bilstein to rear and preassembled front Bistein/King 102HD. I like ride height of current springs set up and front tyre wear is good (Front height 780mm). Rear is 835/840 on full tank of diesel. Thinking Bilstein/King HD will result in front of approx 810/815mm.

    Have ARB deluxe, lights, twin batterys etc. Can anyone help me out, post some pix of Bilstein/King 102HD on a 150 GXL ?

    No rush, just trying to make a decision. Funny thing is, OME give 60k warranty on shocks and Bilstein only 20k

    If you buy your Bilsteins from the Melbourne distributor they come with 2 yr warranty.

    Actual prices are lower than the RRP:

    I got this info and prices from Jim; for the Prado 150 their strut is 570 - 420 mm (lifted version) or 548 - 420 (non lifted version). Valving rate is 3200 / 2200 N @ 0.52 m/s. (similar to a "Aus spec" D563 Hilux strut)

      I think you will find it is 2yr warranty for 4WDs

          Just ordered B6 spec Bilsteins and Kings for the front, and B6 spec shocks for the rear. Shall re-use the rear OME896 springs. Will swap out over easter break. $1187 off suspension shop in Brisbane.

            Changed out rear shocks and the front strut assemblies today. Lucky I went with fresh front struts, as both lower bushes on the tough dogs were buggered. Measurements settled down at 805mm front and 850mm rear. Front springs settled about 15mm in the first few hours of driving. I've retorqued the lower strut mount bushes twice, I'll do them again tomorrow.

            The back is load d with 40litre Engels and drawer full of recovery gear and tools.

                Hi,
                I had a Toyota Surf Gen 3 which has the same running gear as a 90/95 series and I fitted Dobinson springs (2" lift) and Rancho adjustable shocks I loved that set up. I have since sold that and now have a 90 series 3.4lt V6 prado and I will be doing the same setup for that once I get my bull bar fitted.
                I would run the shocks at setting 8 on road and 2 offroad.
