Seriously though, I'm not a big fan of Ironman "gear" either. However, trying to convince others that the foam cell pro shocks are no good purely because you don't rate their other products is a waste of time.Originally posted by Phs View PostAnd correct actaully using 4wds for 4wding I Don't Rate there gear.....
There are plenty of real 4WDrivers that have great things to say about those shocks after using them in the real world. Yes, other people drive off road too.
FWIW, When you have zero experience with a product, then impart negative comments about it, your posts appear as pretentious rants. Just sayin'

Yes when we race our urban obstacle testing course I'll definetly need 35s to come anywhere close to competing with these shocks

You need 35's to compete with an Ironman setup, but you don't rate their products. I'm confused.Originally posted by Phs View PostThere only coming out when

Have done a lot of 4wding with a few different set ups from a SWB70 to a extensively modified 79 and now a 150.
I have used there gear in the past, I have done a lot of trips with people using there gear, and I don't think much of there products, there is every chance the custom valving is ace, hopefully some of the people running them really put them too good use and they go the mile too

Having said that, you need not deal with Ironman if you got Whitey to supply your custom shocks and springs and then you'd realise that the performance + quality > $.Originally posted by Phs View PostI found there customer service terrible, I setup a few 4wds from scratch and valving aside my opinion is most of there gear is over priced for its performance / quality

They've got 2 types of valving - 1. Medium to firm and 2. Soft/Comfort spec. Especially as in an earlier post from 2016 Whitey was doing a group buy of these and modifying the valving. From anyone I've spoken to these things are pretty decent product.
Some of my mates have them fitted to their Patrols and have nothing bad to say.
I'm also a bit hesitant to buy 2 different components for a suspension setup as when it comes to warranty, I've heard of particular cases where the shock manufacturer blames the coil manufacturer and things go round in circles! Dealing with the 1 company makes it a lot easier. Ironman also seem to have decent customer service from what I've seen so far.
Anyway there the only manufacturer I refuse to use that really does say something

G'day Tailshaft,
Thanks for your input. To be honest I'm a bit dazzled by the amount of technical writing here esp by Whitey and others. I know what you mean about two different components, however, these seem to be a pretty common combination and I'd be more than happy with them as at some point I have to make a decision lol. I'm sure the Ironman's would be fine.
Regards,
Greg

Absolutely.Originally posted by drwormy View PostThe real success with those shocks was the custom valving developed by Whitey, besides they being built like a brick dunny. I would take little notice of Ironmans standard valving designation (and wouldnt use them myself). Maybe drop him a line and see if he will supply to you.

Hi Blokes, newbie also looking for 2 " lift advice and have been reading so many posts and threads here over the past month. I have the new facelifted 2017/18 Prado 150 GXL and just looking for a lift for ground clearance/articulation. I changed the tyres pre delivery to BFG KO2's, which seem to have given me a bit of a lift already lol.
I'm not going down the Bull Bar/roof rack route and haven't decided whether to look at a 2nd battery down the track and rear draws front Drifta. I plan to tow an off road box trailer at some point but that's the limit to my ambitions!
In the end l'm looking at the Bilstein/Dobinsons combo of Front: BE5-D563 with Dobinsons C59-327 Rear: 24-217897 and Dobinsons C59-350 as above. My question is; would this setup be sufficient or too firm for my intended use? Thanks in advance for your patience and advice.
Regards,
Greg

I am running Koni Struts with HD raised King springs and LC105/80 Koni rear shocks with HD raised King springs. The package installed cost $1700 plus wheel alignment. One month on and roughly 2000km it is sitting 795mm in the front and 855mm in the rear.
I have a second battery under bonnet and ARB Summit bar hanging off the front and draws (yet to go in) for the rear.
The ride is good - I wouldn't want to go any softer in the front end. The extra travel from the LC shocks are a good addition and actually cheaper than the Koni Prado 150 shocks.
