Yep, 150 V6 GXL 2014 facelift.
The coil I have off at the moment has two 'pinkish' paint marks on it.

Hey,Originally posted by maulbeagle View PostWhitey, do you want the (factory) front springs from mine ? It's a V6 150.
I'm doing the fronts at the moment using the AMTS method as I don't have spring compressors.
A question about the wheel alignment, will a tyre shop alignment do the job ? Pedders always spin me some crap about they are the only ones who do an IFS wheel alignment properly. They cost twice as much, which I don't mind paying as long as it's worth it. What do you guys think ?
Thanks !
Is yours a GXL? If it is, then yep I want those coils!! ...if it is a GXL, could you tell me the colour codes on them, should be same both sides??
The KDSS coils off the V6 Kakadu are different lengths (and perhaps different rates), so they're not the best for making the comparison between diesel and petrol coils.
Pedders don't do any better job of wheel aligning than anybody else!
Give Platinum Automotives in Cockburn a call, great mechanics who know the Prado well, and they'll put you on the straight and narrow with a wheel alignment shop!
Lemme know about those coils!
Best
Mark

I've had my V6 petrol lifted about 3 weeks ago and I reckon I now have better ride than original factory standard and a genuine 45mm increase.
I'm carrying a TJM T3 bar on the front, which is a steel cross-member with single alloy loop. We went for the King Springs KTFR-101HT for the front and KRPR-102 for the rear. The shocks are the Oz Tec ones which are specially made for the Prado. Unlike other shocks that use off-the-shelf and fit spacers to suit each vehicle, Oz Tec appear to make specific shocks for each application. The combination of progressively rated and tapered springs seems to work really well. It's firm without jolting on the road, and very sure-footed in the rough.
I originally went to talk to Opposite Lock about getting their kit fitted, but after standing around for 15 minutes with no service while the staff chatted behind the counter, I left and went to an independent business called Can Do 4x4 in Lilydale, Victoria. The lady there, Jackie, is a walking encyclopaedia of all things 4x4. She even knows things I've heard mechanics get wrong, like how to properly grease a bearing.
Can Do 4x4 fitted the front struts and rear springs for me and I fitted the rear shocks to save a couple of bucks. For the life of me I couldn't get the top nuts undone so I took the car back to Can Do and they loosened them for me - free of charge.
I can't speak highly enough about the King Springs/Oz Tec set up, and the customer service at Can Do 4x4.

Good stuff!Originally posted by maulbeagle View PostFitted the rear springs and shocks today. Can't speak highly enough of John/Zordo.
Best price by far, including shipping, and what other shops can you call multiple times on a Saturday night for advice/support !!
If he can talk an idiot like me through it he can talk anyone through it.
Hopefully tackle the fronts tomorrow, can't believe the rears are "easy" !! Not sure what to expect from the fronts.
John is a suspension guru and a top bloke to have a coffee with!
Glad to hear your suspension options have worked out for you!
Best

Hey mate,
I did a 2" lift last week in my 150. I used Oztech outback shockies and King springs.
I put heavy duty springs in the front and back - but the back was too stiff so I went back to the "comfort" 2" springs and it rides a lot better.
Only got about 35-45mm lift in the front and a good 50-60mm in the rear (it will settle)
Front has steel b/bar, winch, and dual batt so definitely need heavy duty.
I am happy with the upgrade!
$1500 fitted Qld price.

Could avoid the problem if you buy Zordo's Bilsteins, he has extra spring seat grooves.
Originally posted by ZORDOBe aware the 24-173032-1 only has one useable groove.
When I sell these shocks I supply them with 3 extra grooves.

Be interested to hear how you go with the 302 spring. I put 302s in my diesel 150 and got 70mm of lift which wouldn't settle any lower than 60mm,with bilstein shocks on the lowest circlip. Spoke to Dobinsons in Sydney about it and they said they had the same problem and were about to change out a set they had just fitted for a customer in a V6. I ended up fitting 300 and got about 40mm of lift. In my car the 302s were way to high. I have no bullbar.
