We run run various types of shocks on various types of race vehicle. Dependent on what the terrain is to speeds to fuel payload to setup etc.
Eg. The Safari and Dakar hilux runs two sets of proflex at each corner, 8 shocks total. Valving is dependent on which stage/terrain is to be undertaken.
Yes we run foam cells on some vehicles. That encounter rough gravel and dirt roads and corrugations. Have not seen an overheating situation that you describe and shocks have in some situations stayed cooler than the temps we have logged on the remote reservoir Ohlins. Probably due to the huge bodies and capacity.
