  • Suspension Measurements

I have Old Man Emu suspension fitted to my GX and I thought I would post up the before and after measurements for reference.

The only significant accessory it currently has that would affect suspension is the steel bullbar. The suspension was fitted by the dealer and so the before measurements are from brand new. All measurements are taken from the ARB suspension warrenty sheet.

    Front Springs - p/n 2887

    Rear Springs - p/n 2898

    Unmodified:
    FR 745mm
    FL 745mm
    RR 805mm
    RL 805mm

    With lift kit installed:
    FR 820mm
    FL 820mm
    RR 880mm
    RL 880mm

    At 500km check-up

    FR 807mm
    FL 805mm
    RR 879mm
    RL 876mm

So a bit of settling at the front but not much at the back.

    Re: Suspension Measurements

Do you notice much of a difference in handling, I notice there is alot of bouncing at the front during breaking ie at the traffic lights, and going around corners and going over bumps tends to skip around a bit

      Re: Suspension Measurements

I had the suspension fitted by the dealer before I picked the vehicle up so I haven't ever driven on the standard suspension. But I don't notice any bouncing under braking although yes there can be a bit of skipping at the rear if driving over a very rough patch, e.g. a patch of potholes. I have heavy duty king springs and bilstein shocks on my 90 series and it is no different - that's what happens with an unladen vehicle with heavy duty suspension.

Tough dog medium kit fitted. Bought the front struts/springs pre-assembled, so hopefully less settling..

          - Front before 750mm, after 790mm

          - Rear before 780mm, now 830mm

Rear will settle I reckon, those numbers after 50km run. Pretty happy with the ride and alot less swaying. This pic is with all my old suspension in the back..

Matt, I am looking at the Tough Dog gear as well - particularly the adjustable shocks and medium springs. What shocks did you go with please? I have the steel TJM T13 going on whilst the truck is at the crash repairers (bloody Hiace and a wet road) and I admit to a degree of uncertainty about the ride after the bar and suspension is done. The bride will have me for breakfast if her fillings get rattled out. Appreciate your thoughts after you've had a few days behind the wheel.
            Cheers,

I had king springs and bilsetin shocks fitted. Front measurements were 790mm and rear was 830mm after lift. I had ktfr-101 king springs at front and ktrr-102hd(heavy duty) at rear. Theres a arb steel bullbar and dual batteries at the front and i went for heavy duty at the rear because i had a kaymar dual wheel carrier fitted by arb. The funny thing was that arb forgot to put in about 4-5 bolts in around where the hitch is to attach the bar to the chassis i only found out because the guy putting in the lift said it doesnt look right and i towed a trailer two weeks before i found out. took it back and they tell me the fitter forgot.

                          Heya guys,

Where are these measurements being taken? Is it the bottom of the rim to the wheel arch?

                          Cheers

                          Dave

Got my OME fitted on friday last week. Will post up measurements later. Not got a bar so got the springs applicable to that in the front and medium load on the rear. Seems to handle a bit better than standard. Happy with it so far but its only been 3 days and 350kms!
