I have a box in the cargo bay with the tow bar hitch in it (receiver has the bike carrier), and notice that with the new OME I can hear the rattle more often now when going over bumps (city driving, no loads). Definitely firmer than original suspension.
I guess with the fridge and food (35kg?), four bikes (60kg), gears (70kg?), water (20kg), I will get to the 200kg mark very quicky.
It is not too bad driving without loads.

On a different note, I have a call from ARB asking if I want to keep the old suspensions (2 boxes, 10-15kg each); Is it worth keeping these to restore the car back to original when selling?
So you have the constant 200kg spings? I actually pack something close to 200kgs in the rear when I go out camping too. However, the 4x4 shop said I would ruin the kit within 3months since the camping gear isn't permanently in there. He said it was suited for people such as tradies, who do have heavy things stowed in the back all the time.

My prado is only 2 weeks old so I've asked ARB to keep the stock suspensions. I will be putting them up for sale here or on ebay or maybe both. My reasons:
    1. I don't plan on selling this car anytime soon or returning to stock suspension.
    2. if suspension is replaced, bullbar might have to be removed too.
    3. if bullbar is removed, new bumper has to be purchased
    4. would have to sell bullbar and suspension separately to the car, ultimately resulting in less total resale value

Your circumstances are probably different to mine, so just keep these comments in mind.

    Cheers

I had the same thought when I upgraded the suspension on my NS Pajero. I kept it assuming I would be able to sell it on the Pajero forum on eBay. Didn't get a sniff and even had trouble giving it away.

In the end, it sat in my shed taking up space for 12 months before I took it to the tip.

      Good luck though

      Cheers, Sam.

Haha, well if it doesn't sell, it'll probably end up in the shed too!

Probably a bit too firm, but I guess will need to try it out first.
Has anyone dealt with Richmond ARB before? I hope their workmanship is ok?
Price was 1760 initially but they will do it for 1700

I took my Jeep to ARB in Richmond to get pinion gear changed and diff locks put in - they phoned me after a week and said they had to charge me more for more bearings they needed because they stuffed up the ones that came with the kit - I told them to put it back together as I was not confident they new what they were doing.

I took it to another place (not ARB) to get the work done and they found the ARB Richmond had put all the Diff Bearings in back to front.

Won't catch me taking my car there that for sure...

Keep them and use them as spares. I take one OE strut and shock on outback trips.

I was just waiting for you to reply to that lol  Did ARB Richmond charge you for the failed work they did?

:-) They tried, but a suggestion that a heavily modified Wrangler with 35" tyres may end up on thier reception desk as a result changed thier minds.

                    Reviving an old thread...

I was at ARB today and with regards the rear springs, they empahsised that the 2899 is for 200kg CONSTANT load. i.e. you need to be carrying around that kind of weight in the rear all the time. If you have a Kaymar rear bar (50kg) with dual swing arms (2x20kg), then that is sufficient weight for them to recommend the 2899. Otherwise, the 2889 (Medium Load) is the recommended setup.

Has anyone put in polyairs with there OME setup. I am getting ,y new GXL D4D next month and was looking at the same setup, the 2889 Medium Load most of you guys have chosen but i also will be towing a Camper Trailer around. So was planning on installing Polyairs to maintain height when towing. Cheers

                        Hi Dave,

Send a PM to Richoson. He has the airbags installed with his OME suspension and only has good things to say about them. My 2c is that if you have plans for towing, then the air bags will be worthwhile/mandatory with the 2889.

After the GTG2011, I got approval for the suspension upgrade.

Have been looking at OME and ARB recommended 2887/90010 front and 2889/60080 rear. I have an ARB steel bar, no winch yet and dual battery. Also tow camper trailer. As I had trouble a couple of times on the GTG getting the jockey wheel down, I'm also thinking air bags would be a good idea to keep the back up where it should be.

How much should I expect to pay for this set up.

                            Hi Graham

ARB Coopers Plains did mine, I put the Firestone bags in and they did them at the same time as the suspension but I believe that the bags alone were around the $300.00 mark.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

The 2887 is for the V6 petrol, and last time I checked you were driving a D4D? It will be the 2888 for you.

Ultimately, it's best to ring around. After checking three stores, I've found them to be within $130 of each other. Though, the best price I found for a 150 GXL D4D OME suspension with wheel alignment was at Gold Coast 4x4 Accessories.

I probably should not make the quote public, but suffice to say, two quotes were over $1,800 and one was under .

Depending on your timing, it may be worth holding off until the RNA 4x4 show (a few weeks before Easter) where they may offer an extra discount. I saved a few extra dollars when I did that a few years back.

                              Cheers,

The ARB list shows the 2887 for D4D with bar only and 2888 for bar and winch. I don't yet have a winch and no immediate plans to get one but maybe one day.

I was thinking of maybe waiting for the show or at least trying to talk them into a discount now instead. I got the bar in 2010 and the snorkel in 2011 with the show discount.
