  • 17 inch rims with Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres in the LT 265/70R17 size

I fitted 17 inch FJ Cruiser rims with Pirelli Scorpion ATR LT tyres in the 265/70R17 size on my 2014 Toyota Prado VX diesel and have tested it off road several times on some fairly challenging tracks. No lift on the car. All good and no issues with any scrubbing etc.

Pirelli tyres are performing great both on road and off. I can see the difference in performance off road. On road they handle very well, are as quiet, and feel as comfortable, as the original Dunlop Grandtrek AT22 Tyres.

Bought Pirellis from Kogarah Tyrepower for $260 per tyre with fitting and Barry there was extremely helpful (recommended by Gordon from Opposite Lock). We did test fit before deciding what to order.

      • Yes

They look great on your Kakadu !!!

Which tyres did you end up getting?

        • Mine came with the Dunlops on them, very few K's so I figured I would run them down before upgrading.
I am leaning towards the coopers AT3's. 265/70/17. I guess...

          • If I just buy the new style of FJ Cruiser rims from a 2014 FJ car in Australia, will those bolt straight onto a 2009 Kakadu?

                      • Yeah mate looks tough.. Have 2" lift king springs & Bilstein shocks, top quality setup and suits the KDSS well. KDSS is heaps better with a good lift kit in

Let’s post here documents/links which prove offset of the different Prado and FJ Cruiser wheels.

When I called Toyota Australia they did not know what is offset, had no technical knowledge on their product, and referred me to the dealer. 4 dealers later I realised dealers also do not have any information from Toyota on their wheels.

The only information which I got from Toyota is that GXL 17 inch wheels and FJ Cruiser wheels are EXACTLY the same in size and specs and both will fit Prado VX.

In the end I managed to find some information re Prado wheels offset from Toyota in Switzerland. Attached Toyota document (in German) shows that:

                              265/60R18109H has 7,5x18 with ET25 offset (5 door Prado)
                              265/65R17110S has 7,5x17 with ET25 offset (5 door Prado)
                              245/70R17108S has 6,5x17 with ET15 offset (3 door Prado)

Lucky Toyota in Switzerland has more knowledge of their products but unfortunately Toyota FJ Cruiser is not sold in Europe.

Would be great to post on this forum some technical sheets/docs if they are available.

Why did you change to 17" tyres Matty? More sidewall height or just a better range of tyre choices?
